The Japanese did some pretty crazy stuff during WW2. They gave zero fucks, or rather all the fucks were given to the Chinese.

If the IJA sensed that there were holes around in mainland China, they had to be filled.

China is pushing propaganda hardcore, as big as their military is far more money is being sunk into media. One thing they're doing is they're paying off western historians to make it seem like China invented fucking everything as well. This is all legal above board, the payoffs are basically just research grants with very tight limitations.

It hard to say. The Japanese are probably the only population that has simultaneously had any degree of tendency towards cannibalism outside of desperate survival situations as well as the ability to field a modern military. But at the same time atrocities committed by the losers of a war (and WW2 in particular) are inevitably exaggerated by the victors.

There was some reports of cannibalism during the Siege of Leningrad. The reports were so bad, that the Local Militsiya had to form a special department for handling such cases.

There was also General Butt-Naked during the Liberian Civil War who killed and ate 20,000 people. He is now a free man in Liberia.
