I have been an electrician 10 years, it's not that bad. Attention to detail is the main thing and never ever believe anyone when they say a circuit is dead, test it for yourself.
That said shit still happens, the scariest one I have had was a 133kv line being hit by an excavator, the HRC fuses take awhile to blow and in that time it melted half the bucket and made the ground steam. In times like that you need to keep your head and remember step voltage is a thing.

We live in a large farmhouse and at the time we were the only two at home, so he could be literally anywhere if he really wanted to be not found.
I can't say if it was fate, good understanding of my brother's mindset or just pure luck but I managed to find him in time from the riverside and it was the first place I searched for him. The moment when you spot the body and don't know if there's still life or not in it is horrible.
It wasn't a thing that traumatized me to the point of PTSD because in the end we saved him, but it definitely scarred me and I feel like I have the duties of the oldest brother in the family even when I'm not the one.
It also filled me with pure anger for a long time that I had suffered so much through my youth, yet he decided to take the easy way out with his problems.

I have had alot of grand mal seizures since then, so many that the paramedic now knows me and gets worried when I have one the guy's name is todd, hes a pretty cool dude.

The dude had been homeless and a heroin addict. He had been given multiple chances all through life to get back on track and had just been at his dads because his dad decided to help him get off it and to get better. He hid a fucking rifle and waited until Christmas to do it, all while his dad had done everything to save him. Turns out that he was a fucking retard and slipped the rifle when he pulled the trigger, not like it would have mattered because

One day I get to follow around a young female doctor, she goes around and handles the patients.
Get to old guy, he has the Heimers, constantly babbling on about the Russians behind the hills coming to rape his wife and daughter, wants to go and defend his home.
Poor fucker doesn't even know he broke his hip a few days ago.
Doctor tells me to remove a tube from his tigh, it is connected to a bag and is supposed to collect any blood that comes out of his bones as they heal back tohether.
After I am done a nurse rushes over and tells us that we should not yet have removed that tube, old guy was on some meds which slowed the healing process or whatever.
Doctor tells me to "go do that other stuff again", she looms worried and rushes off to get her boss.
Go home soon after, since I got the weekend off. Come back on Monday. Old man is gone. Ask where he is. "He is dead anon, they removed his [medical term for tube thing] far too early and he bled out when they tried to reinsert it."
It was about time for him anyways, but it still feels shit that I was told to kill some guy by accident.

I'm a firefighter, so I've seen some shit that would be disturbing as fuck to most people.
Woman burned alive in a structure fire, pigs burned alive in a barn fire, guy committed suicide by having 2 guns (luger repro and an old H&R 38) on each side of his head… brain matter everywhere, multiple victims that I've had to perform CPR on (1/5 made full recovery, 1 made partial long enough for family to say goodbye at the ER, other 3/5 didn't fare so well)… but I'd say the absolute worst thing I've experienced was my first body recovery when I joined this department.
It was a 40 something year old guy that had died of heart attack or something while in his hot tub…. nobody found the body for 16 hours. It wasn't even the visual of his body being all different colors or the fluids leaking out all of his orifices or the swollen tongue hyper extended out of his mouth… it was the smell.
16 hours of being dead in a hot tub… it was literally dead guy stew. The fucking stench was horrendous and I gagged for a solid week after that recovery every time I thought about the smell.

I had taken a college-level fire science class. Had the honor of going on a ride-along at a local fire department for a day.
During my day there, there was only one call, which was initiated by the landlord out of concern of one of his clients.
While there, we were greeted by a dark, damp room that reeked of decaying porn magazines and catshit.
After moving some of the hoarder shit aside, we were greeted by some older guy sitting half-casually on the ground with several needles scattered besides him what the fuck is with 40 year olds? twitching with every move. The firefighters took a brief moment to decide if they should wait for the police to arrive, but they decided against it, like they've done this a million times. While conversing, the dude got up and moved in a zig-zagging jerk motion whilst hissing.
long story short, he was relatively calmly apprehended and shoved inside ambulance. That was some spooky shit. though. I respect what you do.
