Traditionally, the reason he can compete with a bunch of hopped up freaks in spandex and slaughter hundreds is because he plans rigorously, he understands deception, decisiveness, and having contingencies for the inevitable manifestation of Murphys Law

the "im a stone cold killing machine" bit was always more the backup plan, especially in war journal it was all about oper8ing operashunally, mind over matter

so far im dissapointed, bernthal couldve done a decent punisher but the script is shit except the graveyard scene I guess.

punisher is best when he is the deus ex, and the other characters are interesting. The only time he should get monologue is when he is planning some OP in-depth, everytime they try to humanize him it fails and gets corny.

In our day and age you could write a really interesting punisher, hed be more believable than in the 80s and oh boy could you touch on some hot topics

war stories is good, ones about a tiger crew, ones about the merchant marine, ones about italy, and my favorite one is condor:

it really is hit and miss, iirc there were like three fucking punisher mags coming out every month in the 90s, he was ridiculously popular.

For anyone interested id actually start with the MAX ones(ennis) and then look at war journal, some of em are shit but there are some good ones as well. i think war zone is the more ridiculous mag, more superheroes and crazy shit, less one man new york insurgency…

I always remember this one war journal, kind of the essence of what i liked about punisher as a teen:

franks overlooking some kind of narcoterrorist camp in a jungle, theyve got a hostage lashed to a pole, and the captions read like a cookbook:
