applied for a safety course early last year and have gone through the necessary steps to get my licence but the final form is holding me back from getting a crappy equivalent to an american potato gun Australian 'rifle'.

It's this referee thing. No one wants to sign because we have such a stigma on guns in aus and its ridiculous, some people i know wouldn't be mentally healthy enough to use a butter knife let alone a gun but they get theirs signed by family friends which are just as socially retarded. I've spoken to officers at stations but they seem to just redirect me to the fire arms officer that doesn't do his job (straight to message calls), filed complaints and they just shrug and say we'll look into him. Can i hear some stories of how you guys got yours or at least hug room thread and complain about the aus gun laws with me.

>inb4 you're mentally unstable that's why people aren't signing your shit, spaz

I have till April before i need to reapply. Worth noting in Vic and i'm getting licence for hobby/ inawoods fun

Is there absolutely nobody who will sign as a referee, no boss or coworkers who would sign for you?

Sorry mate, but that stationary statue .gif repelled us all

If you do have no one that will sign it you could try a GP. If you have a family GP that has know you forever the odds are pretty good.

>essentially needs to be a government official, teacher or doctor.

There are some other likely-looking occupations on the list. Pic related.

This is the time to go through all those family friends who have known you since you were an infant and find one who happens to fit the bill. There are some fairly broad categories in there. Maybe somebody is a JP. Priests and ministers also count, so unless you're a filthy heathen that would be a good bet.

I can't help but notice how many of the non-governmental categories involve people who handle money.

Also, like >>334503 said, how can you have never met your GP? What about your dentist?
