I am deaf so I am wonder if that prevent me from getting a gun in my Almighty Sunshine state?

8373f0 No.336038

It shouldn't be. Check your laws auslady.

c45ab8 No.336041

I doubt it would stop you from getting a license, but it might make it harder to acquire a 'genuine need' Fuck I hate that term ie Club endorsement for Target shooting, letter from a property owner for hunting etc. But as long as you meet the requirements, being deaf should be any real problem.

And if it is, sue the government for disability discrimination.

Also, next time can you post small questions like this in the QTDDTOT (Questions that don't deserve their own thread) Thread >329507.

Is the self defence or defence others from the harms considered a genuine need?

c45ab8 No.336109

>>336043

Unfortunately not, and putting that down in the genuine need box will likely get you black listed and will make getting a license later much harder. Basically getting a firearm in Australia is particularly difficult unless you know some bikies in which case it's just like going to the shops and buying some bread. Also iirc our self defence laws state that you can only use 'equal or lesser force' otherwise you're escalating the situation and are equally guilty as the person who's attacking you in the eyes of the law. Our laws are fucking shit and I seriously hope some high level politicians get the shit beaten out of them by abo's.

I think you already asked this.

Do you need hearing protection if you are already deaf?

5f19ac No.336533

>>336521

I would think so you can still rupture your eardrums

Plus, deafness is more of a spectrum than a yes/no thing. Depending on the cause and degree of the deafness I wouldn't be surprised if somebody could still be susceptible to tinnitus.

How can you shoot straight if you are deaf?

That sounds like a fucking nightmare. If I was in that situation, I honestly think I'd try and convince a doctor to sever the nerves connecting my ears to my brain. If I can't hear shit, there's no way I'm putting up with constant

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

26b81c No.336643

I briefly thought you meant Florida and was gonna laugh and say "fuck no" before I saw the tyranny flag, and got sad.

I'd say it wouldn't be likely to make it any more difficult than it already is. deafness and marksmanship don't seem mutually exclusive

de0218 No.336724

>>336624

I had them sometime. It can go away after few minutes to 20 minutes so it is nothing to be concerned about.

>Deafness with Tinnitus

Oh fuck, I already have tinnitus and I can't hear it if I'm playing music or listening to something. That sounds like hell.

dd7af8 No.336730

>>336109

>Also iirc our self defence laws state that you can only use 'equal or lesser force'

To be absolutely fair, if a guy punches you and you pull a gun on him, that's stupid.

But if they mean "don't shoot the guy who wants to knife you", then the law is stupid.

557573 No.336732

>>336624

>sever the nerves connecting my ears to my brain

it doesnt work and in fact it can make the tinnitus even worse

33b1e9 No.337080

>>336730

If someone is trying to stab you, and you shoot them with a gun, you're using greater force, therefore you're at fault. Our laws are fucked.

1d01a1 No.337092

>>336730

To be absolutely-absolutely fair, it depends on personal circumstances…

When I was younger, I'd be able to throw down with the best of them if it were a fistfight. Now, however, I suffer from spinal stenosis. I've had 1 spinal fusion of the C4-C5 vertebrae and am going in today (after 1.5 years) for another MRI because the symptoms are coming back and I can't even lift my right arm. It's probably going to result in another fusion or possibly a laminectomy.

There is absolutely no way I could get into a fistfight today without the possibility of getting a broken neck and being paralyzed from the neck down. Someone thinks they're going to throw hands at me, I'm drawing on them and will put them down if necessary to protect myself before ever getting hit.
