DEFDIST (Defense Distributed) is a nonprofit digital publisher and 3D Printing
R&D firm that has developed some of the world's first and most popular 3D
Printable gun components. In May 2013, the US State Department ordered DEFDIST
to remove their DEFCAD files, which were blueprints for 3D printable gun parts.
Regardless of their blatant attempt to censor these files, mirrors of these files
became available at The Pirate Bay and were impossible for the US government to
shut down. The rest is history … the 3D printing projects and tests expanded,

A cast bullet is made by allowing molten metal to solidify in a mold.
Most cast bullets are made of lead alloyed with tin and antimony; but
zinc alloys have been used when lead is scarce. Bullet casting remained
popular for shooters accustomed to older weapons. Firearms were often
sold with a mould designed for that particular weapon; so individuals
living in remote areas would be able to manufacture their own ammunition
rather than relying upon undependable supplies from local merchants.
Handloading (or reloading) is the process of loading firearm cartridges
or shotgun shells by assembling the individual components (case/hull,
primer, powder, and bullet/shot), rather than purchasing completely
assembled, factory-loaded ammunition. This can save shooters a lot
of money overtime as the price of ammunition is getting more expensive.
Even better, it does not take a genius to reload ammunition either,
it involves very basic, yet strict, steps to follow and ANYONE can
learn how to reload after watching a few videos.
