Happening Time! Friend 01/01/16 (Fri) 01:27:30 No.25446
It seems the new round of board imports has started. If this goes well, we'll soon be on Next.
See you on the other side, /kind/.

Of course.

We've been backing up posts, but anything after this post may be lost. Unfortunately, the music thread will not be saved, due to the limitations of Next.

You mean the old one at bump limit wont transfer or the new one, or both?
Friend 01/01/16 (Fri) 22:06:36 No.25506

Probably both.
Next doesn't allow embeds (for good reason), so none of them will be carried over.

If I understood everything correctly, they will be saved without the videos, so we will have two, mostly empty threads.

Yes. Josh said something about adding a youtube link in their place, but as far as I'm aware he hasn't done it.

I'm going to assume we can still post webms with sound, and mp4s? Did they ever get mp3s working?

>I'm going to assume we can still post webms with sound, and mp4s?
Yep.
>Did they ever get mp3s working?
It was working, but it's going to be disabled because Jim or someone is scared of copyright issues.

Okay, Jim or someone.

I can sort of see the concern, but it's still pretty stupid.
Maybe I just misheard their stance on it, don't take my word for it 100%

Maybe copyright bots only search for audio files

What matters is the container format (mp3). MP4s on 8chan support aac while webms support vorbis/opus for audio. With Next ogg (vorbis/opus codec) file uploads will be supported post migration, so you can upload audio only files if you want but you have to use ogg to do so.

We need to start using the beta if we don't want to lose content. Soon the beta will replace the current site.

I hope Next is quickly brought up to speed and completed, since there's apparently no other choice.
Right now it's super slow. Image loading issues, format looks cluttered…
