i played this mod earlier, it was pretty fun.

its just a shame it was implemented in DECORATE and ACS instead of dehacked so more faithful source ports could run it instead of relying on that zdoom based trash.

If I knew how to use any of those repositories properly, I would. We haven't updated the mod in a while due to waiting for sprites.

The mod is supposed to be an open project where anyone can contribute as long as it works, so if you've got something, put it in yourself.

There are tutorial on making your own shortcuts with multiple mods on source ports. Alternatively, you can also just drag both the soundtrack and the gameplay mod into the .exe (or shortcut)

personally i just use doomseeker to set it up to run in zandronum since i like playing moonman doom with different map pwads for variety. just go to file -> create game then add what you need and hit "play offline". for "vanilla" zdoom/gzdoom you could just use ZDL http://www.zdoom.org/wiki/ZDL to make the process just about as easy.

as for setting it up manually.. you can create a batch file or shortcut with something like "zdoom.exe -iwad doom2.wad -file Moon_Man_v9_6_6.pk3 MoonMusicRandomizerEdition.pk3" and run it that way. pretty much all source ports (including the original dos doom by the way, minus -iwad) use the same parameter conventions. see http://doomwiki.org/wiki/Command_line_parameters and http://doomwiki.org/wiki/Source_port_parameters for more information.

not really, gzdoom and zandronum share the same zdoom codebase and same basic configuration pains before you get started. drag and drop also works in zandronum just the same. i only suggested zandronum because current gzdoom dont run on all hardware anymore (they stupidly require opengl 3 support now which garbage like intel dont support very well if at all) and many people dont want a software-only renderer these days (zdoom).

not to mention it'd be nice to have a few fellow mooninites joining the multiplayer doom scene, which zdoom and gzdoom dont have.

you could check GOG, bethesda recently put doom there. as jewish as zenimax is i wouldnt bet on waiting for a sale.

all else fails you could use freedoom (https://freedoom.github.io/) which runs fine in zdoom/gzdoom/zandronum as a doom replacement. i played through bits of freedoom with moon man doom and it worked just fine. can use other (map) pwads with freedoom as well if you are into that sort of thing.

doesnt matter, almost every doom source port has at least rudimentary multiplayer support. zandronum just happens focus on multiplayer but runs fine single player.

there's no reloading (almost all doom weapon mods dont have it) but you can bind a key in the keyboard options if you run into one that does.

if setting up batch files or program shortcuts are too hard (i cant imagine how you could operate windows if it is) there is also ZDL http://www.zdoom.org/wiki/ZDL which is a launcher for zdoom but works with any port.

i swear, modern windows and osx gave us a generation completely incapable of doing or learning even simple tasks that were mandatory knowledge less than a decade ago with a computer.
