Welcome to /know/!

READ THE STICKY BEFORE POSTING

Welcome to /know/, a community devoted to the pursuit of knowledge. The ultimate goal of this board to provide a place for both casual and academic discussion on any subject or academic field, as well as a place to find and share educational resources.

Rules:

1. Do not post, request, or link to any content illegal in the United States of America. (Global)

2. Try to maintain a certain level of post quality. Off-topic replies, uncalled for catchphrases, macro image replies, or indecipherable text (i.e. "lol u tk him 2da bar|?") will be removed.

3. While I've chosen to not mark this board as SFW, there are limits to what can be posted here. Any posts that are unnecessarily graphic (i.e. gore threads) will be removed.

4. While there are no such thing as stupid questions, there are redundant ones. Please check search the catalogue before posting.

I have no interest in moderating this board with an iron fist. I will only hand out bans for posters that have a history of knowing violating the rules. The exception to this being a clear violation of Rule 1, which will result in an immediate and permanent ban in addition to a report to 8chan administration.

Torrent Request Thread

What is this thread for?

I've decided that in order to help provide users with proper resources (and partially to encourage activity) I've decided to offer a free torrenting service.

How does it work?

The process is simple: you request a book, audio book, or other resource that you want to be torrented and I will torrent it and upload it to the site for you to directly download. If it can't be hosted on 8chan I can host it on Mega.co.nz. Simply post in this thread with the following information:

1. The name of the book/audiobook/ect.

2. The file type (.pdf, .mp4, ect.)

3. A link to the desired file on a torrent hosting site (such as The Pirate Bay). I will not accept hashes or magnet links.

4. The size of the file.

Additional Rules

1. Max file size of 500mb.

2. The torrent must have at least 10 seeders.

3. The torrent must have some educational or informational value. I'm not going to torrent Game of Thrones for you.

4. I'll handle all of these requests on a first-come, first-served basis. It may take me a day or two to download it and upload it to the site, so please be patient.

5. One request per 72 hours.

6. Your request must be properly formated for me to accept it (for the sake of making the board easier to browse for other users.

Note that if I have to upload the file to Mega there's no guarantee that the file is completely safe. I can assure you I don't have the ability or any interest in infecting your files. If you're not comfortable with that (minor) risk, that's your problem.

If you have any further questions or comments, feel free to ask.
