Realistically, volume 4 would be good, as would Fran's arc. Any of the side colour's could be make into good OVAs.

I personally would say that my dream for season 3 would be a very solid ending to the story. Let's face it, there will never even be a chance for season 4. So if season 3 happens, I would prefer it to cover them arriving to Yoitsu, finding Holo's homeland, them getting married, buying a store, and having kids. This is obviously a lot, but some parts would be okay to skip time to get to, like after they get married skip to them being in their store with a little wolf girl running around, then darken screen & the end. I haven't finished the books because I am poor, but I am on 13 and can say that there is a lot of crap side-stuff that should NOT be in the next season. Some side stories are good enough to make 2 special episodes, but besides that it should be fairly to the point and wrap up the series.

I think an OVA would be great for following up the third season if it happens, and a side story would be the logical thing to make it on.

DRRR was picked up for 4 more seasons years later, so its not 100% impossible. The dream is real.

Doubt it. SnW is the type of series that gets a small bunch of following that's really devoted to it. So creating another season won't bring in a lot of revenue since it won't get a bunch of new fans and the only ones who will buy/watch it will be the actual ones.

But anon, SnW was never about the ending, but about the journey, to the point that the last novel left me sad and angry, despite it having a great conclusion.

I'd rather just get one more season faithfully following the LNs than having a rushed ending. The thing that pissed me the most about the anime adaptation was that they skipped the 4th novel.

Even in the LNs you weren't shown the wedding but still it would be great to at least see it make it that far.

Honestly the most Spice and Wolf will get would be OVAs unless there was a sudden surge in popularity in Japan which is highly unlikely.

Google translate's not the best thing in the world but it gets the job done for English > Anything else. Wouldn't say the other way around though for most different languages.
