Movie thread?
Do any of you know any good Korean action/thriller/comedies?

>>14All of this stuff will be very subjective of course, and I am by no means an expert on Korean cinema, but here are some of my favorite Korean movies that I think fit the genres you are asking for. They are listed in no particular order because it is too hard to decide on. I am by no means an expert on Korean cinema.
Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War (태극기 휘날리며)
Confession of Murder (내가 살인범이다)
Oldboy (올드보이) Note: Don't watch the American remake. This movie is probably the most fucked up (psychologically) Korean movie you will ever watch.
Breathless (똥파리)
Honorable mention goes to the weirdest movie of all time: I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK (싸이보그지만 괜찮아). I hated it with a passion, but there are those who enjoy it and "that's OK":)

Oldboy was overrated.
Watch these two, The Man From Nowhere and I Saw The Devil.

Does I Am Nineteen count? I loved it. Not a very serious movie but I liked the story.

>>22>>I'm a Cyborg, But That's OKNever heard of it, but why'd you hate it?
fd2412 No.40
>>38Because it's just really, really weird and thus boring to me. Words can not describe how weird it is. You just have to see it for yourself. The woman legit thinks she is a cyborg and I was never sure what was real and what wasn't throughout the entire movie.

The Tower was one of the best disaster movies I have seen. not a b movie by any means like typical disaster movies. Good story, acting effects. Definitely recommend

>>25>>32(Not OP) I just watched it. Thanks for the recommendation guys. It's an amazing movie. I don't mean to hate on Japan because I love Japanese pop culture, but as far as non-animated movies go, I think Korea has Japan beat. I think I am gonna watch The Tower next.

>>40I actually really liked that movie. Loved the quirky humor, although it lost a bit of steam near the end.

>>58>although it lost a bit of steam near the end.Interesting. I found the end quite
electrifying, if you know what I mean.:)

I liked Welcome to Dongmakgol, Man From Nowhere and Company Man were pretty good as well

>>65>>67>Welcome to DongmakgolThe one film I love more than Happy Killing.
Attack the Gas Station and it's sequel are fun films which Attack the Block was loosely based on.

Time for me to watch it and join in on the circle jerk!

Was ist das? Kein Snowpiercer (설국열차)?
Awesome movie is awesome.
It is mostly in English, but it's still a Korean movie. You can't have a discussion about Korean movies in 2014 without including Snowpiercer. It just isn't logical.

>>80Someone should just set up a stream
39e662 No.173
>>165That would be cool. I have no idea how to do that however or if it would even be legal lol.
144458 No.196
>>173>concerned about legalitypls
But in all reality, it would be Korean media streamed from a US server; i.e. no one will do a damn thing because no overseas copyright restrictions.
That is why sites like the Pirate Bay are up: they are hosted in Denmark or some shit.
8ab65c No.199
>>196TPB moves its servers around a lot due to their ISPs shutting them down. No one can really do anything to TPB beyond that because they don't actually host any illegal content themselves, they just link to it. I see people on /b/ talking about watching streams together on some site instasynch or something, is that what you are talking about?

I liked this one, and its apparently *based* on a true story. 71 into the fire.
3e41bc No.234
>>201I love that "based on a true story" stuff that never actually ends up being anything close to reality. Still, it looks interesting. I love those outmanned and outgunned stories.

>>40>Because it's just really, really weird and thus boring to me. Words can not describe how weird it is. I just watched this because of your post and it wasn't weird at all when you consider that
all the stuff that happens is in their minds and not really happeningI liked it, it's one of my favorites now.

>>267Heh, well, I still consider it weird as fuck even though it turned out that
none of that crazy shit was happening. 7866ca No.287

the way he got her to finally eat by pretending he had installed a machine inside her that turned food into electricity. acfe7f No.289
>>287What about how that one guy (same guy you are talking about I believe) thought he could steal parts of people's identities? That was like the very definition of looney-bin right there. Oh, and not to mention the fact that he wore a creepy as fuck bunny mask sometimes. 7866ca No.290
>>289I laughed hard when
he took away that one guy's politeness and during their next group therapy he spits on the floor and curses them all outi also liked the
yodeling scene with the ladybug carrying her bedIn fact, i'm gonna go look for the soundtrack to this movie.
