Currently up to episode 32 of 62.

Why haven't you embraced Deokman as your queen, /korea/?

Because I haven't watched any Korean dramas yet, but I am looking to try some out. Is it just a crappy romance story or is there more to it than that?

Also, check my dubs. North Korean style.

There's a lot more to it. This is set in the times of Silla (early Korea). There's a lot of really cool military and political strategy and manipulation involved, and some over-the-top martial arts, which is fun and kinda funny to watch.

Also, Deokman is a qt.

Alright then, count me in. Looking for it on viki now.

I am really into history, and historical K-dramas like Queen Seondeok (선덕여왕) are the only kind I watch really.

This show was insanely popular when it first came out in Korea. It has garnered some negative press since then though.

I embrace her! But King Sejong the Great (the person not the K-drama) is better #Justsayin'

So is it like a Korean version of Game of Thrones? Except with over-the-top martial arts added in and no fantasy elements and no white people.

She looks cute, but I find almost all Korean women cute since I am a virgin Koreaboo.

I'll start watching it too and yeah, it's on viki. Link for the lazy noobs: http://www.viki.com/tv/281c-the-great-queen-seon-deok?q=The%20Great%20Queen

Toooooooons of French comments on the show. I guess it must be popular among French koreaboos.

Historical K-Dramas are fuckin' cash.

Someone needs to make a thread dedicated specifically to all of the best historical K-Dramas (with Queen Seondeok included).

Emperor of the Sea, was another one.

Here in NZ, we could get the global Korean TV channel called Arirang TV. It was great.

It looks like that drama aired at the same time as Immortal Admiral Yi Sun-sin. I guess 2004 was the year of naval themed Korean dramas. Ever watch that one?

That is cool and all, but I just watch all tv shows that I am interested in, which isn't many, on my computer. Yar har.:)

Trips confirms that 2004 was the year of naval themed Korean dramas.

That's what I'm currently doing–going through Queen Seondeok. Each episode is 1 hour long, however, and they do a lot of teasing out plot elements.

There are a couple of fantasy elements right at the start of the series, but after that there are none.

The over-the-top martial arts is stuff like the Gukseon (Grand Master) of the Hwarang (elite fighting corps) taking on entire leagues of trained Hwarang, sending them flying when he hits them. I personally liked it, but it's not realistic, so YMMV.

It is crazy how many episodes they pump out for K-dramas especially considering the short period of time that they run for. A lot of the dramas I want to watch have around 100 1 hour episodes each.

When I think about the amount of hours I put into things, I think about all of those hours that could be put into something actually productive. With all of the hours I have put into watching shows, playing games and browsing the internet over the past few years alone, I could have been really advanced in Korean if I had used them to study. FML. I am lazy.

Why is Gukseon Munno so based?

1dfcd2 No.303

Fucking hell, /korea/

OP here. I've watched up to episode 50 of 62. Each episode is ~1 hour long, which leaves ~12 hours of episodes left.

I'm very sorely tempted to skip to the end and just watch the final episode. It's frustrating to watch–so many things can be simplified if the protagonists WERE JUST HONEST AND OPEN WITH EACHOTHER.

For example, if one of the main characters had just mentioned to the other main characters that he WAS THE ANTAGONIST'S SON, it would have cleared up SO MUCH drama and bullshit!

This is a very well made series, and is sending me through an emotional rollercoaster. I've already cried earlier on in the series, too.

I dunno if I can take this much drama.

#1 you are marathoning that show like a fucking pro. You should watch the last 12 episode all in one day.:)

#2 I am glad to hear that it's good. I started to watch it, and will get around to watching it all sometime soon, but my free time is pretty much non-existent during the weekdays due to work and studying and this weekend I have been gaming a lot (nothing new there) and I have been working on creating a Korean equivalent to the Daily Japanese Thread. It's more work than I thought it would be.

I know how filler can be though. DBZ anyone? The original DBZ that is, not DBZ Kai where they cut all of the filler out and made the anime resemble the manga a lot more. But, I enjoyed pretty much all of the filler, so who am I to complain?

What drama are you thinking about watching next?

1dfcd2 No.318

OP here! I stopped watching at episode 50 for a bit, but am planning to get back into it very soon!

>>304
>What drama are you thinking about watching next?
I've been watching different anime series. As for K-dramas, I'd really like to find and watch Emperor of the Sea.
