Earlier today I read some doom and gloom about the board. I would like to address that. First lets start with some facts.

#1 this board was literally only created 4 days ago (don't expect /v/ rate of posting in 4 days, or ever really). People need to realize that growth for almost all image boards here is currently a very slow process. I have been trying to spread the word about the board as much as I can and I maintain threads/make new ones in multiple relevant sections of the site. I do this because I have a love for Korean culture. As Carl Sagan once said (yes, a real quote, not some made up internet quote) "When you're in love, you want to tell the world."

#2 most people don't even know that this board exists, and the same can be said for the vast majority of user created boards. Hotwheels is eventually (if not already) supposed to be working on ways to help people find boards that they would be interested in, so hopefully that happens soon.

#3 despite the very slow pace of posting, /korea/ is doing far better than most user created boards. Crazy, right? Due to the position that /korea / is in (See for yourself here: https://8chan.co/boards.html), which is pretty high up compared to most, the slow rate of posting says far more about 8chan that the board itself, in my opinion. Currently 8chan is very focused on only about 3 boards. If you aren't posting in those 3 boards, you will often be seeing very slow responses. Even /a/ is pretty inactive, though that will possibly and hopefully change when the 2ch integration happens.

So all of that said, I would just like to encourage everyone to help promote 8chan itself so that all boards, including this one, may grow.

Also, here's to hoping we get featured as a board of the week soon.:P I will only leave this stickied for a little while so that it doesn't annoy the very few people that we have here. Thanks for reading.:)

Thanks for the update. Sometimes I raid 4chan to try to get them to convert to 8chan, but it never works out. I don't know how we should go about trying to get people to 8chan. Not even people on /meta/ know. There are just different ideas thrown around all the time. Thank god for #GamerGate and Moot's SJWery, because without it, 8chan would most likely still be that obscure little image board with a dream that was never going to be realized. Now that dream looks like more of a reality.

Please don't promote 8chan on 4chan. If you must promote it, tell friends and people you specifically know, don't mass advertise :\ The admin would do it if that was what he wanted.

It's wayyy too early to even try to size up this board or how it's doing. Let's just post more until it becomes self evident

Idk. Hotwheels isn't gonna raid sites to promote his own of course, because that would just be seen as wrong. He has mentioned 4chan raiding before though and he said people can do it if they want. Really, what are our other options for promoting 8chan? 4chan is where all the image board users are. Btw I am talking about the site itself and not this board specifically.

As for the board itself, I agree, it's way too early to say anything in that regard. I don't think inactivity will really be a problem though as long as 8chan itself gets more users.

I just get worried that people are going to accidentally attract really crappy users that will make the site worse. I guess it's not my dilemma though. And it mainly applies to /b/ anyway. Other boards like this one act as plinko slots pulling out the good users as they bounce past

I think it's a given that 8chan is growing, it's well on its way to killing 4chan IMO. So this board too should continue to grow just fine.

I would love it if people would promote the board. The blue announcement at the top of the page (blue if you are using /korea/'s custom stylesheet which is Photon) encourages people to promote the board. I have done a ton of promoting of the board on 8chan itself, but none off the site. I am not sure how to go about recruiting off site. I am not sure how to get people like Allkoppers to want to use an image board.

Anyway, would you mind hopping in IRC? Go to the 8chan homepage and scroll to the bottom of the page. Then once you connect, join the channel /korea/ by typing /join /korea/. I would like to talk to you about something.

It's irrelevant to /gg/, /pol/ only wants to gas you if you're not Aryan, /v/ only knows Korea through Starcraft and, from my understanding, largely loathes it or doesn't care about it, /b/ only shitposts aboust best Korea, and I think /a/ will immediately call a Japanese-Korean race war or something.

My best bet would be /int/ - Koreans, from my experience, are quite a rarity over there.

Sorry I didn't see your post yesterday. I am on the board all the time (usually without tags for various reasons) but I still missed it. Basically my efforts for promoting /korea/ have focused almost entirely on /b/ and I think most of the people that are here found this place through a thread series that I have been doing called "Boards you frequent/would like to promote edition # X" with my opening post containing a link to this board each time. I am on edition #3 now and #1 and #2 were both actually stickied at the top of /b/ temporarily, which definitely helped. I have advertised a tiny bit on /int/ though as well. I also keep a /korea/ thread constantly bumped on /boards/.

What really needs to happen though is promotion of the board outside of 8chan itself because 8chan itself needs more users. Pulling a few users from other 8chan boards to come here is nice and all, but this board can't prosper by doing that alone in my opinion. 4chan board users used to do raids on other sites and that is how a lot of people (myself included) found out about the site in the first place. I don't know that raids for our board specifically would actually do anything, but we have to figure out a way to promote off the site at least somewhat. I wish I knew the answer to that. I would love for Korean pop culture to become a dominant force on image boards (8chan specifically of course) alongside Japanese, instead of Japanese alone.
