Hey, I think it would be a good idea if we set up a document and/or linked to a bunch of resources to help out people interested in learning Korean since it can be somewhat hard to find good resources for it online. Just a thought my fellow /korea/ns.

Reddit's /r/korean has a good resource list we could use, but I think it needs to be edited up some and added to. I saw someone talking about doing a Daily Korean Thread as a counterpart to the Daily Japanese Thread in /a/ and /v/, so maybe something is already in the works, but I haven't seen them post it yet.

That was me.:) Essentially the plan is that it is going to be a copy of the DJT's style, but applied to Korean. The DJT docs have been around for a long time (started on 4chan I do believe) so why fix what ain't broke? As for /r/korean's resources, I already have a somewhat edited list of those (personal preferences) because I am a wiki editor at /r/duolingo and I worked on compiling resources for lots of languages. You guys should definitely check /r/korean's resources list out, it's great.

Anyway, I will be posting the docs on this board within the next few days so that we can work together to try to make it somewhat acceptable for "final release" when we put it in /v/. Don't know how the reception to Korean will be, but a few people in the DJT expressed interest in such. This project isn't really about this board though, as the DKT is something that will be going in /v/ (/a/ would hate on it since its Korean) and /v/ apparently allows language threads as the DJT is still being posted there. Not really any other board options really because we need a place where people actually post. /b/ wouldn't work because, well, it's /b/. This is just about helping people learn Korean on 8chan and trying to get some people who might be casually interested in Korean actually taking it up.

I use TalkToMeInKorean.com. Their Youtube videos are awesome and they're really nice people that are enjoyable to learn from.

I have used TTMIK before, but I feel like there is too much chit chat in English and not enough actual learning of Korean. That's just my opinion though. I know a lot of Korean learners love them.

I agree. I tried watching their videos, but I just couldn't stand them. They need to stop trying (and failing) to be cute, and just get on with teaching Korean.

Do you know of any good TTMIK alternatives?
