Due to the fact that there probably won't be very many people in the /k/ountry I don't think we need to bother with a traditional method of government.

Consider this; with so few people it would be easy for everyone's voice can be heard. I suggest every home having a computer. At the end of every day issues of government (eg taking a contract, spending of funds etc) can be put to a vote by everyone. which ever gets the most votes is the direction the country will take.

An example- A contract is offered to protect aid workers in west africa. At the same time a contract for providing security to a vulnerable US embassy in the middle east is offered as well. The decision is put to a vote at the end of the day. Votes are registered on our secure local area network and the will of the people is seen in real time, not just what the 5 believe the will of the people to be.

with such a small group of people, there needs to be direct, fast action, vote are nice when youre a big country full of back up plans but for a starting nation, a single individual to make decisions on the spot is needed.

I think we should vote for one person to have complete power, then make a direct vote on him each year, kinda like an elected king.

That's why I think it's important to keep the communities small. Small communities don't need much of a government, which is good because governments are inherently corruptible and oppressive.

I agree with >>323 that monarchy is most efficient. Monarchy sounds nasty, but with such a small community it's not bad at all because the monarch doesn't have that much power. They're more like the boss of a company than a tyrannical dictator.

Also, socialism actually works on a scale this small. I know socialism is a dirty word, but we know it works in small communities because that is how humans lived for most of our history as a species. Think about it like this: it's like a big family. You don't pay your parents to take food from the pantry. You don't ask for money for doing your chores.

I guess what I'm getting at is that the community needs to stay small. Once it gets above 150 or so (or maybe smaller, I'm not sure) it should split into two self-sufficient towns. It's just more efficient to govern that way…you don't need ridiculously complex governments with twenty branches and a senate and a congress and other such bullshit. I really think this is how all communities should live. It's inherently environmentally friendly because the communities need to be self sufficient. There's not much need for money. The small size eliminates the need for serious governments. And if you become disenchanted with how one town is governed, you can just move a few miles down the road to the next town.

What about something like a tribal system w/o all the Middle Eastern style infighting?

Each village has an elected Chief that takes care of things there, according to the inhabitants.

Then the Chiefs have Council meetings when things involving other villages or the /k/ountry as a whole crops up.

They then take up the opinions and represent the village.

each settlement or other form of social grouping would have its own government and operate as pretty much a sovereign entity, with the federal/central governmental body being little more of a forum to address issues concerning the various players and bring stuff to the attention of the nation as a whole.

and then in emergencies it's the responsibility of the folks at the point of action to handle their shit and bring in outside help when necessary.
