>>757Thanks for the images looks good for the most part. Only problem is its a nature reserve but I don't know how that would affect the dynamics of the location.

>>762Hardly anyone visits. I'm honestly thinking about going there with my rife, and a shit ton of ammo and basic survival gear and living off of sheep for a while.
No.764
>>763Fuck, we'd be WAAAAY the fuck out there.
We'd have to do some heavy planning each time we went for supplies.
No.768
>>764We can domesticate the sheep herds and pigs. There's also a freshwater river.

>>768Also the near by islands are inhabited.
No.798
>>768That may be, but we need more than just farm animals and fresh water.
If we need 1st world medical supplies, or something we can't get from nature.
I like the idea of being isolated, we'd just need to do heavy planning each time we go to mainland for supplies. It's a heavy con, imo.
No.801
>>798True, but trade with isolated countries isn't that big of a deal these days.
No.802
>>762Also the land is very rugged, and would be easily defend-able
No.807
>>622>>625It's a lagoon. However, because it's only a lagoon and not open ocean, it'll be quite shallow. We could possibly construct sea platforms in the middle of it. Think about it - we can put up support structures with concrete slabs on them and then build our various buildings there. That'd leave all the actual soil open for agriculture and also form a ring of land around our more integral structures.

>>808Just rent a dredger, fill the inside of the atoll with soil and build seawalls on the beach to prevent storms from washing out all of your shit.
No.810
>>809And I'd like to add that with a dredger you could even expand the island outwards.
No.811
>>810Could work quite nicely, yeah.
It'd be interesting to see what would be cheaper - building pylons and platforms over shallower areas or just filling the whole thing with dirt.
Another concern is the softness of the sand/dirt itself. If it's too fine it'd make construction a nightmare regardless of how we choose to build.

I say thatch Cay.
+nearby infrastructure(even an airstrip on that nearby island)
+owned by private investor, might be willing to outright make it a new country for us if he likes our constitution
+opportunities for tourism, because beach+virgin islands
+no need to lay fiber optic cables for internet
-too close to other people, might be bad
-possible problem of illegal immigrants if /k/ountry becomes too awesome

I thought we were going to be PMCs, these islands are way too far from were the action is

Principe island, 53 square miles with only 5,000 inhabitants
We could set up a compound on the southern part of the island.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pr%C3%ADncipeThere are also the Tinhosa islands nearby that could be used as a backup should we get desperate.
Sao Tome and Principe is a pretty shit republic, we could solicit a bribe to keep our status somewhat legitimate.

>>1157Might only be 5,000 people, but they're also buddy buddy with the Portuguese from the looks of it.
And it's near west Africa. I don't know how I feel about that.

We can just take the Comoros like Bob Denard. He did it no less than 3 times.

Is it in a storm heavy zone?
We don't want an island where we have big chances of a tidal wave killing all of us.
