No.1262
Alright, so I'm not a programmer, nor do I pretend to be one, but I know some things about games and the like. I've become adept at trouble shooting shit and making old games work on newer systems. That being said, I've run into an issue with Postal 2 on steam that I just can't figure out how to get around.
So I know a few games, mostly older ones, have an issue with computers that have more Ram than was available at the time. My computer has 16 GB's and I think it might be the issue I'm running into with my game. The damn thing runs at super duper speed. The whole game runs like a rat on crack.
I've tried limiting the amount of ram available for the game, and I"ve tried using third party software to slow it down, but nothing is working. Anyone had this issue/know how to deal with it?
No.1263
Don't think the ram is your problem as I have a ton as well without said problem. Can't really say what it might be tho as I've never run into a similar problem with the unreal engine.

>>1263There is too much of SOMETHING. Its the same thing if you try to run some emulators. Basically the game can get sped up as fuck. You gotta limit it. I'm not sure if its my possibly the processor that's too powerful for it…

>>1262Are you sure you're playing the Steam release, anon-kun?
In any case, this is a problem that can be caused by Unreal engine games using more than one CPU core; change its CPU affinity and see if that fixes the problem.

>>1264Well hard to know what can be causing it. But try to set a framelimit by adding this line
FrameRateLimit=60
under the render you are using in the postal.ini
>>1269This is another solution I've found by looking at this problem regarding UT.

>>1270I've tried a lot of these things. I've researched the problem before and I just kinda…gave up after a while…

Well post your system anon, if anything it actually gives RWS something to look into if we can't figure it out.
Also abuse the UT community :)

>>1274>>1270>>1269As for the whole Limiting thing. I've tried that, doesn't work. Its late and I need to get to bed, so I'll try the FPS limiter when I get off work tomorrow. Till then, I hope this shit might help out a little bit.

Turns out that Unreal Engine doesn't really like AMD. But here is some reading for you.
http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showthread.php?t=182599Should probably avoid the render hacks tho.
Someone had a done fix for pretty much all the games except postal 2, what a faggot.
No.1292
There is a 'Force one core' option in the launcher. Tick it.
No.1293
Oh wait, no there is no, not sure how that got removed, so you'll have to do it manually.
Navagate to \Steam\steamapps\common\POSTAL2\system and open the POSTAL2.ini file
CTRL-F to bring up search, and look for 'ForceOneCore' and change to true. Save and start the game.
