Come play or watch POSTAL with us every
Saturday @ 16:00 EST/21:00 GMTMostly POSTAL 2: Share The Pain, and occasionally POSTAL 1 Multiplayer (
as soon as we get it working)
Or sometimes we will watch syncs of either the POSTAL Movie or LPs of the games, or do readings of the books or whatever else.
How to join? To participate in our events, just make sure that you are a part of the RWS Steam Group:
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/GoPostalRWSThen when the event starts, just join the chatroom. That where we'll all be!
POSTAL 2: Share The Pain You're gonna need a copy of P2: STP (Share The Pain is the multiplayer component of POSTAL 2). Any official retail copy from Steam, GOG, Desura, or even your game disc will do.
Don't own a copy of the game? That's okay!
POSTAL 2: Share The Pain is FREE:
WINDOWS:

http://www.moddb.com/games/postal-2/downloads/postal-2-share-the-pain-mp-mac-versionThen make sure it's updated to version 1409.
NOTE: The version numbers for the base game and Share The pain differ.
http://www.gamefront.com/files/3074475/POSTAL_2__Share_The_Pain_v1409_PatchThe Chatroom will be used to arrange and pick the server we will be playing in, so be there!
POSTAL 1 You're going to need to own a copy of POSTAL 1 - Steam, Desura, GOG, or Fudge Pack should do it - or really any latest copy of Postal Plus, off your retail disc or whatever.
P1's multiplayer consists of a peer-to-peer connection multiplayer, for up to 16 players. Modes include deathmatch and co-op.
(STILL REQUIRES TESTING. PLEASE STANDBY) Other Stuff For Non-Steam versions of STP:Since GameSpy is kill, non-Steam versions of P2:STP can't connect to the master server anymoreto see the server list, anymore. This isn't a problem for our multiplayer events, since you can just directly IP connect to our server. However, if you want to receive the server list and check out some other servers on your own, then here's what you do:
>Open up Postal2.ini>Just find the line that says ServerActors=IpDrv.UdpServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master.gamespy.com MasterServerPort=27900 and change it to ServerActors=IpDrv.UdpServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master.333networks.com MasterServerPort=27900. I learned that when I was setting up the server, you might want to add that info to the sticky.>There's also another instance of master.gamespy.com you have to change under [UBrowserAll]. After that the master server list should load.Teampeak Server: We also have a Teamspeak 3 server, for those who like to voice chat while playing.
SERVER:
tpn.ts.nfoservers.com
You can get Teamspeak 3 here:

STP for sure, with the most complete zounds pack and custom maps such as Islamic Revolution, Chozo etc.
No opinion on the day, just recreate all of those hours I spent playing on that French server DKT back in 2009.
No.1773
Either of them would be great. Saturday would be better.
Hopefully the times alright though, britbong here.

Definitely Share the Pain, either day sounds good though.
No.1785
>>1762Postal 2, whichever option would be better. I certainly wouldn't mind custom maps if nothing else.

Share The Pain, please.

STP for sure.
Day doesn't really matter, but please consider that some of us are europeans when it comes to when you start.

I'm down for the day after tomorrow, but I'm an Ausfag so time might be pretty shitty for me.
Postal 2 if I can fix this master server problem I'm having.
No.1819
>>1762Sorry I couldn't host it today, guys. Had stuff going on, and fell off for a little bit.
So here's the current plan - we do the event tomorrow, Sunday the 30th. I wanted to figure out a good time balance so that both eurofags and yanks, could participate at a decent hour, so how does 16:00 EST / 21:00 GMT sound to y'all (check the relative times for your time zone)?
We will be doing Postal 2 STP mulitplayer. In order to participate, make sure that you own the Steam version of the game and that you are a member of the RWS Steam Group. At the right time tomorrow (I will also announce the beginning of the event tomorrow), just jump into the group's chatroom and we will start up a game from there.
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/GoPostalRWSAlso, you can add me as a friend on Steam to get in touch with me directly:
id/rws_flanagan
For test run purposes, we will be doing a dry vanilla run at first. If the event goes on longer, we will figure out mods to throw on top. Server selection might be an issue. If anyone's got a killer connection and is willing to host a server, let me know.
If this event ends up being a success, we might end up doing a frequent (perhaps weekly) thing.
So spread the word. Tell your friends. Tell yer mom. Let's all play some Postal!
In regards to non-steam players, I don't know what to tell ya. I wanna use the most accessible and currently active version of the game, and ever since Gamespy was kill we switched the Steam version's multiplayer to be done through Steam. I don't know if non-steam versions can still connect with Steam versions servers (I doubt it, though). Hit me up on Steam - if there is a big demand for non-steam version multiplayer then I will pop in my Fudge Pack and do a follow-up event with ya guys. Post last edited at

>>1842I've hosted things before, I'm just confused as to why my server won't show up in the master list. Does anyone know what ports I need to forward?
No.1844
>>1843Are you using the Steam version? If so, it should be fine regardless. We don't need your server to appear in the master list, we can just join it directly.
As for ports, I'm not sure. Since we use Steam for the multiplayer now, I'd assume that changes the nature of ports required. Fuck if I know.

laggy as fuck for eurofags, but at least has zerolag to make it playable it's a pretty good server and has been fixed/polished up since last event. Hopefully this weekend we will avoid a lot of the hiccups and inconveniences of last weekend.

ayyyyyy, been helping test the server out before the big event, found some fuck ups, that are being worked on as i type this out apparently.
Slow as fuck download for maps and such which is being remedied, no worries. (i hope)
Starting up postal 2 also from steam, led to it just not starting up and gave a MCVCR120.dll error when i scavenged to the common/POSTAL2complete/system folder,
theres a direct link to a microsoft webpage that will fix this problem if you have it.
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784Select the version that works with your operating system (32 or 64 bit)
IE, 64x = 32 bit and 84x = 64 bit
if for some godawful reason you didn't know the differences. you only need the one, run it, it'll be finished when it says setup complete. no further window will pop up so close it after that and then the launcher will work again through steam or what not, hell I'm pretty sure its the same either way.

FYI, if you're on Linux and struggling with audio, it only uses OSS (/dev/dsp etc), which isn't normally installed. You want something like osspd to provide /dev/dsp with a pulseaudio backend, unless you like shutting off pa and getting oss drivers working.
