Well, as discussed before (ex. >>2091), there really isn't any overarching canon across the Postal series. Each game is more or less its own self-contained thing (the exception being P3, though even that merely uses the events of P2/AW as a jumping off point for its own story). But if you want to think of it as all being canon, then the intro sequence of P3 seems to imply that P. Dude was the one who went through the events of P1.

So I guess if you're thinking of the series in terms of continuity, then yeah - you can think of the P1 dude as the same character as Postal Dude.

Also the diary entries of P1 are dated '97, while the date of death ond the tombstone is '96. So there you go!

So, pretty much, the Postal Dude's father was a prick and died. Postal Dude, unable to handle the fact his father died and never loved him, began to imagine his father as a bigger than life monster, and than proceeded to blame you, the player (Or perhaps God himself) for ruining his family life. You could look at this as an analogy for how a Christian in his youth could lose faith due to a traumatic life experience at a young age.

OK, it's really quite simple how Postal 1 is, and what it's meant to symbolize.

Postal Dude is Postal Dude's Father.

The events that happen in Postal are merely delusions of what Postal Dude thinks his father did.

You, the player, are God, or any higher power beyond Postal Dude's control.

The story of Postal is meant to be an analogy of a child trying to grieve with the lose of a father who never cared for him and, in the process, created larger than life scenarios and ultimately blamed religion for failing him.

This troubled childhood would set up the stage for how Postal Dude would grow up and prepare us for Postal 2.
