I've never tried to learn Russian so I can't recommend any book in particular, but from what I've seen the Assimil series is quite good in general.

Nigger what? Cyrillic alphabet beats Latin alphabet any time. And Russian has the simplest Cyrillic alphabet of all languages, if you can't learn it then you're brain dead.

IMO the Cyrillic alphabet and kana are easy as fuck, though I'm an autist who likes phonemic languages.

You should be happy about that actually. I don't know how regular Russian cases are but there is nothing more daunting in language learning than ambiguous case endings. It's like kanji in Japanese. At first you hate them but later you realize how much they make things easier.

I guess so, potential and passive are the same for certain verbs in nip so it always confuses me.
