So, someone just brought back Sharedtalk or what appears to be a clone of it.

In the final days of ST there was a bot message circulating written by the former founder of ST announcing a new site so this could be it.

So I made an account. I find it a bit suspicious that they require your full name and city… but it's not like I gave them my real informations.

And I just got messaged by a Russian woman who speaks English… we'll see how it goes. Another thing: the notification sound is really loud, I wish there was a way to disable it.

A lot of users didn't enter their real names and the profile can still be changed including the name.

Unfortunately there aren't many users online as of now (about 90 during peak times) compared to ST but they've already grown a lot in just over 2 months the site exists and new features are still being added. There even is a feedback option where you can still make suggestions. You can also check out the public chats if you don't feel like talking one to one. The voice chat hasn't been available for mobile just yet.

I think the userbase will grow and eventually reach that of its predecessor. It would also be a good idea for them to "advertise" on reddit.

The Russian woman left to take her dog out for a walk and never came back… But I did get the chance to talk to an old English gentleman who recently moved to Australia and he confirmed that Australians are cunts.

I actually saw some Americans on there learning Italian. Always remember the time zones on websites like these, though.

I actually expect it to grow larger than that because the former site was a bit wonky and out-dated but this one is really polished with new features to be implemented.

Recently I found out that this one actually wasn't made by the former founder of ST but a former user that jumped at the opportunity. The founder is still working on his new site. You can check it out(called hello lingo) and there is a transitional version up and running but it looks like dog shit compared to sharedlingo.

It's the side project of a guy who works for a Russian IT company. I'm not sure how and whether he is going to monetize the site or not, or if he is going to cash in by selling it like the previous owner.
