Why? Duolingo is not even that good

 No.636

I just thought it would be easier for me to start learning it with that game-like Duolingo as I'm relatively busy with 3 languages thanks to school (2 of them are mandatory). Already picked up a book on it though.

 No.638

>>636
I think you should wait until you're out of school, then. Out of curiosity, what are the 2 mandatory languages? I'm guessing one is Swedish, but the other?

 No.666

Swedish and English (practically). But as I consider my English sufficient and the courses are extremely easy I don't really have to invest myself in that. Swedish is a pain in the ass though.

I'm obviously not going to be advancing too fast if I'm juggling with 4 languages but hey I'll see how this goes.

 No.686

Duolingo's only good for vocab really. It won't teach you any of the grammar, and that's a pain in the arse.

Hears more it doesn't teach:
>Listening
>Pronunciacion
>Actual conversations

You can use Duolingo and not even be at a decent tourist level. It's easy and motivating to use maybe, but ironically Duolingo is more of a program to teach you to write correctly without spelling errors.

It's the biggest Scandi language. Learning Swedish is a good idea, and they probably have the most media and books.

If you learn Danish pronunciation I honestly won't understand you, but Swedish is easy. Every Norwegian can speak joke Swedish so communication is easy.

okej

 No.867

I think Swedish is a pretty good language for a foreigner who's into nordic languages since it's arguably the easiest due to pronunciation, spelling is a bitch though. Not really sure why you'd want to learn since everyone in the nordic countries speaks fluent English.
