Quite a history – originally based on a Russian song (music and lyrics), later popularized from an English translation in the 60's and, according to Wikipedia, recorded in over twenty languages.

This sounds pretty nice. I found the original and I must say that this is one of those cases in which the translation is better than the original. Probably because of the faster beat in the second.
