So I spent the day browsing through a Russian-English dictionary, and have come to realize learning Russian is so fucking easy. Except for the cursive handwriting, which is screwed up.

Prefixes and suffixes are helpful.

What I'd really like to get my hands on is a text file of all russian words and let my computer skills do the work decyphering it for the lulz.

I'm not sure if it is the dictionary I'm using or a specific dialect they are examining but this book seems to use the accute accent marke over alot of vowels, and I'm not talking about "ё" and "й" but а, е, и, о, у, ю, я where I see a lot of а е и о у ю я.

This dictionary is about 20 years old. Clinton was president when it was published but no computer or technology terms seemed to made it to print.

I've never been able to figure out the "shch" letter and how it differences from the regular "sh" letter.
Palatalization was always an issue for me as well.
I took a year's worth of Russian in uni so far and hope to get my minor in it soon.

Ш is always pronounced like the SH in "SHarp"; curl up your tongue a bit.

The pronunciation of Щ will depend on the dialect; in most, it's like the SH in SHit, with the tongue flat, but more alongated (so it's more like freSH SHit). However, more conservative dialects and some other Slavic languages [as Ukrainian] pronounce it as SHCH (as in freSH CHeese).

Ah, regarding the accents: they indicate which is the stressed syllable. They're only used in didactic material, though, so don't expect seeing them in normal text.

For Poles learning Russian

I've tried to learn Russian reasonably successfully in the past - around one or two years ago after studying for a couple months using busuu and livemocha I could make basic conversation and read/write cyrillic, even though I still found the grammar a bitch. Now that I've finished school and have a lot more time on my hands, I can get back into it again.

What're some tricks/tips/services you faggots recommend to help learn Russian, and figure out the fucking grammar (cases and verb forms in particular are a cunt to learn).

Russian's not as easy to learn as you make it out to be, OP, you faggot.
