You plod along in the snow, too focused on staying warm to notice the lamppost until you bump into it. Shaken from your deep thought, you realize that you are nowhere near the sidewalk you'd started out on. You don't think that you've been walking long enough to exit the city, yet looking around, you can't see any buildings. You notice a bench just a few steps away from you, with three lampposts on either side, each spaced roughly fifteen feet apart.

Cold and disoriented, you weigh your options: You can sit down on the bench to sort out a plan, or keep following the path in either direction. Of course, you could always wander off into the trees on either side of the path, but you aren't that adventurous...are you?

 No.2361

God I love these. Was thinking about starting one myself but I'm not much of a writer.

Wander into the woods on the bench's side but don't go too far.

 No.2369

aw yeah, story time.

Do we have anything of use with us. Say like a flashlight or map?

In any case lets go with what >>2361 suggested.

Passing by the bench, you proceed into the woods. The trees gradually become taller and thicker the further you go, and grow more closely together. Eventually you come across a woman, perhaps 25, heading in the same direction, further into the forest. She wears a dress reminiscent of a Victorian-era lady of the court, her brown hair elegantly braided and adorned by flowers of varying shades of pink. She walks gracefully, and with perfect posture, never pausing to consider her steps across the uneven ground yet proceeding with a gentle confidence.

You slow your pace as you draw nearer to her, wishing to take in the sight of the refined woman. She stops suddenly, however, and turns slightly to regard you. "Hic tibi placuitne?" She asks, the slightest of smiles on her face.

(working under the assumption that the character inherits any traits of the anons posting)

You recognize the phrase as Latin, or some variation of it. For once, those Latin classes in school are paying off. After a moment, you translate what the lady said to something along the lines of "You did this?".

This could mean several things. She could mean "You chose to walk into the forest?" or perhaps "You got yourself lost on that road?". Unsure of what this mysterious lady could possibly be doing here, how you yourself got here, or why in the hell she's wearing Victorian clothes and speaking Latin, you respond with a simple "What do you mean?"

>>2393

You contemplate her words for a moment before responding, "What do you mean?"

She turns to face you directly now, and says in perfect English, "I'm sorry, I thought you were...well, nevermind." She approaches you slowly, studying you in detail. "I was simply wondering if you liked being out here."

"Uh...I, uh...yes," you stutter, her disarming calmness throwing you off. "I was just out walking to clear my head, and wandered in here."

"Ah, so you got yourself lost," she concludes, her faint smile broadening. "This is a special part of the forest. A part that can't be searched for, only found." As she reaches you, you notice her eyes hungrily taking in every detail of your face. She lightly touches the back of her hand to your cheek. "You're quite cold. You must've been out here for some time now." She takes one of your hands in both of hers, and feeling its chilliness, begins to rub it gingerly. "I'm going somewhere warm, myself. It's rather comfy." She leans her head against the side of yours, the tip of her nose gently grazing your ear, and whispers, "Would you care to join me?"

Though lost in an unfamiliar area, you feel oddly tranquil with her beside you, as if...as if she were meant to be there, forever and always. You're not sure how you could've gotten by without her. You feel a deep, primal concern for her well-being, a desire to follow her wherever she may go.

"Well, darling? Are we going?"

 No.2474

>>2473

Join but be dubious of her, something feels off about it.

 No.2504

>>2473

Indeed, join her, but be careful and stay on guard. Try to see the situation as it is, though the haze over your mind may block rational thought.

Also asking again what >>2369 asked (and never got an answer to, thanks OP): Do we have anything with us in a bag or our pockets?

>this was never continued ;__;

I thought it's only been a month but it looks like my perception of time is completely skewered. Considering starting one on my own but I don't want to give empty promises I think I just did and I'm neither too creative nor a writer. English isn't even my native language.

Aren't these usually (mostly?) pre-written and posted with just a certain set of choices? I don't think I could come up with eloquent stories on the fly fast enough if it had completely open options.

 No.3287

>>3286

And I understand I wouldn't be trying to write a /lit/ approved novel or anything but I'm a stupid perfectionist. Wouldn't want to let you fine /late/ anons down.

 No.3295

>>3286

I used to follow these on /tg/ back in the day, and if I learned anything from talking to the authors there it's that expecting the story to stay on it's rails not only is a fool's errand but also makes an uninteresting read.

The key seems to be having lots of notes and world building behind the scenes and being able to tie in curveballs on the fly. Anon will unwittingly kill your attempt otherwise the second they don't like a vital npc or want to take a walk behind a backdrop.

Good luck if you end up trying though, I for one don't need a masterpiece but it'd be cool having something ongoing happening on the board.
