I just don't want to sleep. I don't know why. Tell me something.

There are species of insects (and mammals) that have developed the survival strategy of taking over nests and colonies of other animals - effectively killing the original colony while furthering their own species. This is know as social parasitism - kelptoparasitism and brood parasitism fall under this umbrella.

In a period from the forties to the sixties the United States government willfully infected its civilians with various deceased to see the results on their mind and body. Likewise, during the fifties, there were several occurrences of the government covertly releasing hazardous chemicals is density populated areas to examine the results on the community.

If humanity would be to become extinct, any evidence of our existence would fade within a millennium. The only artifacts of our civilization would be space debris - which will ultimately be destroyed due to solar flares, cosmic radiation, Saturn ramming into the Earth and, eventually, the expansion of the sun.

I don't think that's true, we have plenty of evidence of humans dating back thousands of years ago. Evidence of our existence will most definitely fade away but it will take much longer than a millennium. Of course nobody will be around to notice anyway.

I personally doubt the first one, because if a parasite kills its host, then it has nothing left to sustain itself on. Could you give an example of that?

Analog synths have this extremely nice ambient noise that comes with them. Its one of the only few noises i can sleep too.

A documentary (I believe Aftermath: Population Zero) speculated that would be how long it would take for the fast majority of buildings to collapse and be buried. The only exception would be huge, but relatively horizontal constructions, like Hoover Dam.

If you are referring to "ruins" like in Greece, Britain, Japan, etc. keep in mind that those places were still being used and were cared for in one way or another - even if it was not the original culture. Without any form of protection the material will quickly deteriorate. For example: a few years ago there was a hubbub about major Italian cultural icons falling apart due to negligence - after only a few decades.

Of course, it's all speculation, but fun speculation nonetheless.

Cuckoo bees, cuckoo bumblebees, cuckoo wasps.

Though not the same, slave-making ants are a doozy as well.
