but honestly, if i lived in a city, i'd be all over that shit at night. hopefully i can get a better /late/ experience once i'm at uni

I like to just go driving at night. I live in Southern California, and the freeways are completely empty at night. Seeing the city and everything being very still, it reminds me of the Hopper painting, Nighthawks.

When I have a friend over, we often stay up late and sneak out the window at around 2 am. We then head to the gas station, drink coffee, and smoke for a while before heading home.

Always feels like you own the world. All the streets are empty, everything is so peaceful.

When I was at my old house I would walk to the back yard and look at the lake. I felt connected to my 14 year old self and all the thoughts and feelings that I had at the time, the cigarettes I used to smoke. Now that I'm in college I mostly walk to 7-11 or travel mentally back to my younger days.

I used to wonder around the forest and on the cemetery at night when I was a teen. I had those two places just a short walk away from where I was living at that time.

Sometimes I walk out to 7-11 and buy a cheap ice cream.

I always chat with the cashier. Conversations start much easier at 3am; you feel like you're both the only people in the world.

I used to work night shift and on my nights off I would walk down to the beach. There's an intrisic sadness about it that drew me down there.

When I was a kid, I visited family every summer In downtown Amman, Jordan. My cousins and I would sneak out at night and go to a little gas station about half a mile away. We all bought chips or ice cream and ate, sitting on the sidewalk.

A while back when I was a kid I used to sneak out of my place and go skating at around 2 or 3am. Good times. Now I live in northern Sweden so I usually go outside and enjoy the sky at around 3 or 5 am. I was able to catch the meteor shower the other day at around 5am it was a pretty timeless moment since the only sound you can hear is your own breathing making everything around you feel motionless.

I sometimes drive around downtown to see how empty the place is. Or maybe drive on the highway.

I live in a small town in the midwest, I drive up and down the main road under the street lights listening to music. I'm usually the only car on the road. My town is really peaceful at night, and I see it in a way that I never get to experience when it's daytime...
