i have stayed awake for four days, i might have gone longer but i like sleeping. around the second day i started seeing small inky black things that kind of resembled insects darting across my peripheral vision, when i directly looked at them they disappeared. on the third day i saw stationary objects spin and or shake quickly for about half a second in my peripheral vision as well. on the fourth day the surface of everything rippled like liquid, also off and on heard voices whispering. it can be interesting, i would like to try it again sometime. if you plan on wanting to see strange things i don't think two days would be sufficient.

i would imagine that listening to vaporwave would make time feel like its going by much more slowly. if you have a hobby i'd suggest doing that instead. what kind of foods did you get to prepare for this and what are you looking to get out of this experience?
No.3533

Just snacks and easy to prepare stuff, which is really all I buy anyway. I eat when I get bored and it helps keep me awake a bit. So, nothing special then. I got a bunch of corn chips and energy drinks on special, some lollies, mince and cheese pies and saveloys.
I guess I want to experience things outside of the norm, outside of how our bodies usually perceive things? The same reason I like the idea of taking certain drugs (trying to get my hands on something more interesting than weed currently). Plus I've been rather apathetic and this seemed like something more interesting to do with myself.
Good point about the vaporwave. I've gone with something more 'future funk' while I mess around with SeaMonkey.
Been awake for 20 hours now, not as tired as I'd usually be. Still got South Park on the Television as it has been constantly lately. Feeling like I should be able to hit 48 hours without too much trouble.

I recall reading that you start having some degree of hallucinations on (or after) the third day.
I haven't been awake for more than 2 days I think. I've tried to stay up longer but the dizzy nauseousness gets too strong after the nth cup of coffee. You kind of forget about why in the fuck you'd want to stay up after a while and the bed is too comfy to resist.
No.3569
>>3557
I was a few hours from only the second day I think, not sure exactly when. The couch was so comfy, and it was too easy to stop punishing myself and just drift off into nothingness.
It was fun, and interestingly I was less hungry than usual. I agree with the 'detatchment' someone else mentioned, that weird dissociation you start getting.
I wasn't really up for that long so it wasn't getting too many crazy effects, I mistook some thing in my peripheral vision as time went on but not so much hallucinated. No voices, though some sounds were deceiving. I would like to try for two days+ but I would have to like, practice or something and it kinda sucks at some point.
I'll have to search for some more stuff about people who have stayed up for extreme amounts of time, I saw something about people having a condition where they feel no need to sleep and don't really get "sleepy".

I've posted this months ago in another thread.
I hadn't slept for 3 days, skyping with a friend, was taking pictures of my hand over and over again, at one point I was listening to floral shoppe while on the floor, an started laughing so hard for at least 2 minute straight and it felt like my eyes were trying to escape my head.
My friend told me to draw in paint, this is the result of that.

From the Guiness Book of World Records 1975:
>The longest recorded period for which a person has voluntarily gone without sleep is 288hr (12 days) by Roger Guy English, 23, in a waterbed showroom in San Diego, California from 10.30 a.m. 20 March to 10.30 a.m. 1 April 1974 without stimulants other than coffee. i am kind of a perfectionist when it comes to my own drawings, i just find clean lines more appealing. as you can imagine practicing has always been counterproductive, which lead to me drawing off and on for about ten years now. waiting long enough to forget everything i know and start off again each time trying to get it right. the only reason i am posting these is because i am too tired to overthink it.

Okay, I understand now. Maybe practicing clean lines by drawing things that aren't as filled with straight and orderly lines so that there isn't as much pressure to draw a perfect line would be better. So, for example, instead of drawing a cute girl enjoying the spring in her dress you could draw that girl taking a walk out in the snow in a baggy jacket. Then you could hopefully work your way into getting it right the first time and start drawing things with more orderly lines. Do you have any straight-edges or things of the likes to guide you with your drawing?

Oh, neat. That used to be my hobby.
Actually, I used to have a blog where I did this. My record was just short of 98 consecutive hours, you wouldn't even believe how pissed I was that I didn't break 100. I did try again a second time and managed something like 112 but there was a like a 3 hour nap in there somewhere which destroyed the whole attempt. Though I carried on just to see where it'd go.
It was normal for me, as is my insomnia made it so, that I wouldn't sleep for about 32-36 hours since the last time I woke up. So anything less than two days consecutive was more or less "normal" and I can't comment much on that.
Around 70 hours I seemed to hit a wall, I could do less than that on command as long as I prepared myself for it, but anything after it was a struggle and could end at any moment. I attribute it to the microsleeps which really set in at that point.
Do to the total loss of any coherency you've got to make sure nothing important is going to happen while you're doing this, and that you won't be leaving the house. Music has been kinda iffy with me, too easy to sort of go into a trance and pass out, the real trick is keeping your conscious at the forefront. Snacks will end you, period. As will stimulants, although if you're trying to pass a certain milestone they can help at the last leg of the race. Take in your b vitamins but never too many and not all at once, eat sparingly, and avoid fatty, sugery, and salty foods like the plague. I'll also say, fapping will destroy your attempts as will whatever drugs you might be into. Even meth will put you under once the comedown starts.
I had a lot of good progress with out and out fasting, but due to the sheer number of times I'd fuck around with this, it wasn't exactly viable all the time. Always felt like it put me in the right mindset for it, aware enough to not slip into micros, while numb enough the boredom didn't put me under. And boredom will because your attention span will become shit and you'll have fuck all to do as a result.
>>3565
It's very very simular to the sort of thing you get with large doses of benadryl (80-100 pills or so). Takes a special kind of masochism to enjoy.
I'd post a link to my archived attempts but blogger seems to have eaten my account for inactivity. Since this was all about six years ago I guess that's understandable.

They make you sleepy.
Your body does the, okay I'm well and fed time to crash thing.
You want to be eating just enough to keep your energy levels up without triggering that response or resorting to things that will make you crash on the comedown. Leafy greens do a so so job of this, I grow a lot of cabbage in my yard, so that's what I used. You could just grab whatever's at hand though.
Also a bit of a pro tip, if your stomach isn't too bad try sucking on a bay leaf when your getting drowsy. Pretty much impossible to fall asleep with one in your mouth, but mind the effect it'll have on your nauseousness which will already be pretty iffy after the second day.

i am probably just going to draw one last time when i hit the fifth day then go to sleep right after and post it when i wake up. my vision now has scan lines, it feels like looking through a tv screen which is adding to the sense of delirium. i have not left my house in four days so i decided to go out and buy a beer, i was in no shape to drive so i just walked to the closet place that sold alcohol which was a walmart. i was not aware of what day it was until i got there, there were about 100 people because of some pre-black friday sale. i walked in and got a 40oz; i had to wait more than ten minutes in line to pay so i had time to look at what was happening around me. everyone was in a hurry but were moving slowing at the same time; the air buzzed of noise from everyone talking yet at the same time i could hear each individual persons' conversations. i went it to a some kind of trance from the sound of everyone talking, i could see myself standing in 3rd person for brief moments. the chirp of some nearby person's phone broke me out of it and i turned to look instantaneously. he was happy while talking to some people as he picked up the phone to view the message, his smile quickly became an empty one. as if he was already expecting what he read but didn't want to hear it. when i got home i drank the 40z in one chug and started drawing again for the experiment, i vomited a few minutes in and now have the spins; just a few more hours.

I regularly go without sleep for 30-40 hours.
Due to my current lifestyle (on break from university) I have no restrictions at all on my time. So I'll have a somewhat normal cycle for half the week, then the other half will be two super days where I fuck around for hours and hours and just decide its not worth sleeping all daylight hours. Oddly enough, its usually around the 18 hour mark or so that I feel the most productive and at ease.
I get super tired at around 25-30 hrs usually, but I can push through for a full 48 fairly easily. I have gone past 2 days, but it gets weird at that point. Like you're just coasting by on instinct, mostly asleep anyways.
Obligatory remark on my depression etc. being the cause.

When I was 12, I stayed awake for 5 days.
Me and my mom were on a Grey Hound Bus going to Texas, I had to stay awake since my mom was blind and I couldn't go to sleep worrying about her.
That entire bus ride was absolute hell, my eyes felt like fried eggs, I kept hearing fucking buzzing everywhere.
Main reason I stayed up so long was because I refused to eat for most of the trip, seeing as the hunger helped me stay awake.
It was one of the most difficult trials I have ever faced as a person, seriously messed me up, I still have nightmares about it.
