As if the internet didn't waste enough of your time, here's /lazy/, a board dedicated to time-wasting and procrastination. If you're a recovering procrastinator, you can also post ways to be more productive and generally not lazy.
Basically, it's like Alcoholics Anonymous if there was a keg at every meeting.
What's a waste of time? Doesn't everything not related to work waste time?
While it's true that writing novels and volunteering at soup kitchens could be considered wastes of time by some, there are some activities that are far more deserving of this title. Here are some of their common qualities:
>Doesn't contribute (or contributes little) to society
>Doesn't build a trade skill
>Very low barrier to entry (i.e., little effort required to do it)
>Can be done pretty much whenever you feel like it
>Doesn't improve your health (physical or mental)
>Doesn't create profit
>Potentially addictive
Are you saying [favorite hobby, e.g., playing vidya] is a waste of time!?
Probably. Time-wasters aren't entirely bad, though, since we need time off from work to rest our minds. Part of what this board can do is offer some fun ways to take time off. If you want to procrastinate that way, that's on you.
So what makes someone more productive?
There are methods and games out there that seek to make people more motivated and productive. If you happen to find something out there that works for you or seems interesting, feel free to post it here.
