FBI Director Wray contradicts White House on Porter investigation

>WASHINGTON — FBI Director Chris Wray on Tuesday contradicted the White House's account of former staff secretary Rob Porter’s background investigation, revealing the bureau had finished its report long before Porter was fired over allegations of domestic abuse.

>Wray told the Senate intelligence committee that the FBI had completed a partial report on Porter in March, finished its full report in late July, responded to a White House request for follow-up information in November, and closed the file in January.

>That timeline is at odds with the narrative the White House laid out last week after two of Porter's ex-wives publicly disclosed incidents of verbal and physical abuse.

>Deputy White House Press Secretary Raj Shah told reporters on Thursday that the background investigation into Porter by the FBI was ongoing. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders also told reporters Monday, "The White House had not received any specific papers regarding the completion of that background check."

>NBC News has reported the White House Chief of Staff John Kelly knew in November what Porter's ex-wives had told the FBI.

WH knew Porter was a wife beater for months and didn't do shit about it. Then they lied about it. How surprising.

Trump is such a piece of shit lol

It gets worse.

White House was considering promotion for Porter before resignation

>Former White House Staff Secretary Rob Porter was being considered for a promotion, perhaps to deputy chief of staff, before he resigned last week due to domestic abuse allegations, CNN reports. Axios' Jonathan Swan confirmed that reporting, stating that Porter was in the running earlier this year for "a policy-overseeing role," perhaps with the title of "deputy chief of staff for policy."

>Why it matters: Following FBI Director Christopher Wray's revelation that the FBI had already finished its background checks on Porter last year — throwing a wrench into the White House's public timeline — this is more bad news for the administration's handling of the Porter allegations.

So they knew the son of a bitch was a wife beater AND they were going to promote him despite it.

Par the course with this White House.

They didn't attack them, they were conducting an operation against ISIS, but got too close too the over a dozen US military bases in Syria (who are not actually in cahoots with ISIS we swear :^), and the US sperged out and bombed them.

Is this event serious in any way or just another blip on the strange US-RUS relationship?

>As part of his 2019 budget plan released Monday, Trump called for ending the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), claiming it has been known to have “sizable fraud and abuse.”

>Getting rid of LIHEAP would save the federal government nearly $3.4 billion across the nation in the 2019 fiscal year — money that Trump says can be better targeted for children and families served by the Department of Health and Human Services.

>Connecticut Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy had urged the White House last month to prioritize funding for LIHEAP in the 2019 budget. In a letter, signed by 45 Senators including several Republicans, they noted “the importance of affordable access to home energy as a matter of health and safety for more than six million low-income households, children, veterans, seniors, and Indian tribes.

It's a small program, but it has been getting cuts for a couple of years. It used to pay a portion of 9 million people's heating bills, but now it is around 6 million because of cuts.

>US president and commander-in-chief of the armed forces refuses to enforce sanctions against you the Congress has forced

>the actual armed forces themselves attack you

Does Trump strike you as in control of his own military and government? Would that be a factor in international relations?

Things are still moving and unstable in Syria, and it is as of yet not entirely hashed out who will claim what spoils; the Kurdish-Turkish clashes near Afrin are a clear sign of this. The US now has control over the Kurdish areas and east of Deir es Zor (strikes like these should dispel any notions of the Kurdish side as being meaningfully revolutionary or even independent), Turkey has their little enclave north of Idlib, Al Qaeda holds Idlib, and the SAA controls the rest. All sides will likely see how far they can push things. Likely this strike was intended to signal that the US intends to keep the areas in Syria it now controls and will not allow the SAA to even get near. Same thing happened down south near Al Tanf, where the US bombed an SAA armoured column a while back for getting to close to one of their enclaves. It goes without say that the US presence there is naked imperialism and would count as an illegal war of aggression if the US were held to the same standard it holds others to.

I don't think it is a setup for a further escalation though.

Trump Wants to Cut Food Stamps—And Replace Them With Blue Apron-Like Meal Kits

>The Trump administration wants to overhaul the longstanding food stamp program, replacing it with a box of canned goods that it has likened to Blue Apron—a high-end meal kit service.

>Director of the Office of Management and Budget Mick Mulvaney explained that “part” of food stamp recipients’ benefits would “come in…a Blue Apron-type program where you actually receive the food instead of receive the cash.”

>The proposal, called “America’s Harvest Box,” would reportedly contain “homegrown” products, sourced from American farmers and producers. Shelf-stable milk, juice, grains, cereals, pasta, peanut butter, beans, canned meat, poultry or fish, canned fruit and vegetables are among the items that would be included in the box.

Only Trump and his cult are so fiscally ignorant to even remotely believe that the poor will be getting fresh produce out of this plan.

It's going to be fucking army rations unfit for rats.

The song Stung Right will have meaning again in the US

>It's going to be fucking army rations unfit for rats.

>implying that they would even consider giving poor people MREs

MREs cost $86.98 per case of 12, and with meals like "Chicken Pesto Pasta" and "Brisket Entree", they'd be far too extravagant to waste on dead-beats who won't get jobs. Especially if you imply that feeding them MREs would be taking away from the military.

So I won't be surprised if what the poor gets is off-brand cat-food.

MREs cost $86 a case for a civvie like you over ebay illegally (if buying an actual MRE not just a commercial knock off).

They cost far less for the contractors who pump this shit into the pouches and send it off.

Again, only the stupid would think they'll be getting anything close to fresh fruits and vegetables.

If the USDA is involved in it, it's going to be nothing but starch and corn syrup.
