Okay okay I might have just made this thread to shill my latest video, but still there wasn't one in the catalog.

Discuss videogames shit and how to convert the current Bethesda hate into class consciousness.

>doing literally anything is capitalism

lol you wrote this post on a computer, talk about hypocrisy you champagne socialist.

Add Rising Storm 2 Vietnam. Maybe New Vegas for dialectics and the Followers of the Apocalypse tho I guess thats a stretch.

It's like 2 years old at this point so it does need an update.

Also I considered NV but ultimately decided nah since the Followers are barely in it and the NCR are clearly the good guys.

Yeah its only a lefty game as far as its a good game and we want lefties to have good taste lol. Maybe EU4 for bourgeois revolutions and anti-colonial potential? Another stretch but seems a little more justified.

vicky II is on there but since EU4 is pre-socialism, eh.

has any played this? on one hand it looks promising but on the other it looks like propaganda

look at the reviews dude

Video games are software by necessity. They are the most communist medium inherently. The original video games were shareware by computer nerds doing it for fun.

Night in the Woods? i just remember most people i kind of shared opinions with shitting all over the game, never played it.

LMAO it's hysterical anti-soviet propaganda and it also sucks as a game. I might do a video on it sometime though, it's really funny. You'll notice it's the worst rated game on my whole list.

The music in it is good though.

I find most socialists seemed to like it, I didn't really see anyone who didn't other than contrarians who thought it was too social justicey or whatever, but I haven't got round to playing it yet myself.

Well their main problem with the game was the humor, they praised the art and thought the mechanics weren't interesting. Apparently the game uses the phrase "i am such trash" very oftenly, which they hated.

Night in the woods is great, it's a story driven platform that gets pretty deep after a while. I don't know what it has to do with communist tho. it does take place in the rust belt and it's implied that the reason the town has gone to shit is because of economics, but it's not the main focuses of the game.

>how to convert the current Bethesda hate into class consciousness.

Point out video games turn to shit because of financiarization.

Of course, but how to actually get that message across and tackle the crying of 'well if there was socialism there wouldn't be any videogames anyway!'.

Enjoying Atom. Glorious post nuclear communism.

>indie games

>hurr durr if people don't paid no more flashy game bocks DDDDD:

So go share my videos so a socialist gaming channel gets more popular then :^)

File: 237e4e60e049d37⋯.webm (4.82 MB, 800x640, 5:4, steam introduces paid mod….webm)

All you have to do to use Bethesda hate to explain communism is explain the modding community and how that works vs Bethesda.

Everyone will continue to use Steam as long as the Epic Games Store continues to be spyware apparently.

Thanks, i already own it, only the windows 10 edition tho. There was a very good offer.

postal 2 is more critical of the united states by comparison. didn't like it and really don't like scott benson at all. surprised i sat through the whole thing

Lol yeah I don't mind that Redpanels comic so much. I wouldn't mind doing something like that, but then again, I wouldn't mind factory work making solar panels or something, so long as it was for the common good.

I just found the title of the game funny in context.

But I know what you mean, I like Wargame and the chat in that game is basically just /pol/ as an instant message service.

Odds are socialist central planning will be done by neural networks anyway.

Strategy games tend to draw autists and 4chan mentality of historical fetishization of great men/bad history basically turns them into wehrmaboos or worse.

Victoria 3 never ever. :^)

I honestly hope paradox never make it: they'll just fuck it up like HoIV.

Paradox sucks now anyways. The game we really wanted was East vs West and they cancelled it, who cares.

Crusader Kings and EU IV were and are cool.

HOI and Stellaris were and are shit.

Victoria is a masterpiece, but they sort of lost continuity of it: i.e. the team that worked on it disappeared somehow.

Communist uprising at the studio was put down.

Copying my post from /leftpol/

Upcoming /ourgames/ in 2019:

>Mao's Legacy: You are literally the successor of Mao and you can do whatever you want with the PRC, including Cockshottian automation

>We.The Revolution: Be a judge in the french revolution, support Robespierre, guillotine bourgs and the clergy.

There's also Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic which is kind of city building game with resource management set in a fictious (I think) soviet republic.

Victoria had a lot of flaws. The politics system never made much sense and the economy was a mess. At least it showed that free market is crap.

CK2 is a masterpiece, you can really do anything in that game. EUIV is ok.

Wish I could like Stellaris, every update there's some new disappointment.

Class conscious games:

Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor

EU4 is my favourite, but I wouldn't say HOI4 is shit outright. It's super flawed, but im hoping Man the Guns fixes some of these problems.

obviously that raises another issue with DLC policy but that's a Paradox problem not exclusively a HOI4 problem

Grand-strategy is not even close to appealing to normies, so like any proper hobby, it relies on milking a hardcore fan audience.

Pretty much, but they got too greedy with EUIV by hiding quality of life improvements and useful general features behind DLC.

In CK2 if you wanted to play with muslims or pagans, you bought the right DLC and you were set for life. In EU4 if you are interested in colonization you have to buy like 4 or 5 DLC to get the full experience.

Tacoma is great, and I just put in a trade for Spaceport the other week. Trading Steam Keys is actually existing communism.

What do you guys think, should I trade The Long Dark and Hurtworld for BATTLETECH? I love mechs but it seems to be getting mixed reviews

I suppose you have a point there but on the other hand, the last game I traded for, Kingdom Come Deliverance, was a fantastic title that rivalled any Bethesda game, but that had overpriced and poorly reviewed DLC too, I just didn't play it.

Next communist uprising at the studio is already brewing.

>>2799727 I doubt the NCR are considered the good guys. All they do is to recreate a corrupt pre-american state and in such the conditions for the next nuclear war. What's why I like NV and dislike per example 4, because the goodies are just too obvious

I mean the NCR are the least-worst: they are at-least spreading infrastructure, civilisation, and welfare throughout the wasteland without genociding the tribes. Sure they are expansionist, but compared to the Legion they are decent, and they aren't insular technoautists like the Enclave, Brotherhood, or Institute who would let mankind die of anything and everything and do nothing towards rebuilding civilisation.

Crisis in the Kremlin, but instead steering China to socialism just after Mao's death.

Kremlinggames are working on it

Well I've always had this game idea but I dunno what you could do with it: I call it "Up The Resistance".

Basically the overworld is a TBS Boardgame, with XCOM TPS strategy on the micro. You lead a resistance cell in an occupied Britain during WWII: your aim? To fucking eject the nazis ofc!

Yeah this: >>2803319 they are making a game about China after Mao's death. I think long-term they are doing a post-Tito game called "Downfall" but don't quote me on that.

i will put it on the list

i have made a will ago a prototype to tested a base with a grid system. wanted to use it for like a base tiles builder when you upgrade and defend against invader. i dropped the idea later was not fun.

will it have different factions? like a lib monarchist resistance and a communist one?

My idea for a game would be pretty much Valkyria Chronicles but set in the Lebanese Civil War, you could have plenty of different campaigns based on the different factions, there's at least 8 you could do and have it be worthwhile

Real life 'lore' is just as ridiculous and contrived though

>so this rebel character tries to shoot the monarch, his gun fails, he runs away, goes to hide, and then the monarch's carriage changes route because of the attempt so that it happens to go towards where the rebel is so he tries to kill him again and this time succeeds? It's okay for a comedy but isn't this level of contrivance unacceptable in what's supposed to be a serious story? And what did you say his group was called? The 'black hand'? Could you pick a more cliche evil name?

>Shoot-em up/danmaku kind of game where you cannot shoot but need to satellize homing bullets around you (by moving in circles) and unleash them at the enemy

>Trading sim game, kind of FTL clone taking place in the caribbean, become a pirate, corsair, trader, slaver!

>RPG game crossed over with grand strategy, you are a necromancer and build your own bone empire but also personally take part in battles, buff your troops, summon hordes of monsters and expand your realm

I can throw dozens of ideas on top of my head tbh

pretty sure the first two have been done fyi

For reference I am no game designed, this is all in my head.

I would let your movement's ideology be decided by three things:

Personal ideology

So take for example, a left-wing trade unionist who supports a popular front. You are a generic socialist, that would give you buffs and negative relations with various groups, you are a trade unionist; that gives you various abilities (like a general strike, which legit happened in Luxembourg during the war), and as a member of the popular front you will be able to garner support in areas that support Labour, Socialists, and Communists; but will gain support in areas that aren't those. I haven't mapped it out 100%, but I think the guiding ideology would be

Communist (ML)

Communist (dissident) [not 100% on having this this, but considering the amount of non-CP communists in Britain at the time I thought it might be worth it]

Socialist/Labourite [as-in the Labour party]

Patriot [apolitical people loyal to the government-in-exile]

Nationalist [thinking either explicitly separatist, although separatism in GB was basically nonexistent at this time, or like Chetnik/OUN tier right-wingers]

Royalist/Loyalist [Working class nationalists, think UDA, Orange Order, that kind of shit]

National Conservative (aka High Tory) [basically think the upper class lot that would be opposed to the nazis because "they are terribly unbritish"]

Liberal/Democrat [referring to generic liberal democrats that would join a resistance because they like democracy]

Fascist [Would not be available if Britain was run by Mosley]

Christian [would likely be anglican, dunno about this one either might be better to have under background]

Undesirable [belonging to an ethnicity or group that the nazis would try to directly exterminate, so jews, romani, or south Asian/Chinese]

Maybe a Gaullist-esque faction, although having one based on Churchill doesn't seem quite right.

Then your front (Pure grouping, Popular Front, National Front, Loyal grouping [allied to the government-in-exile]) would determine how well you get on with other factions and how you do in areas with sympathies for those groups. For example a Communist is doing to get great support in the coal-mining towns of Wales but in Devon they won't get fuck. However A communist leading a national front (here meaning a non-ideological resistance group) will fare better in Devon but won't elicit as much inherent support from Wales.

Your faction would also play into diplomacy with the three foreign powers (the British Government-in-exile, the USA, and the USSR). A Communist will fare badly at the start because before barbarossa the USSR did not support resistance much, but after the start you will have resources flowing in. Same with trying to get US support before pearl harbour.

There are some other things I want to flesh-out, like various different occupation scenarios: Mosley's British Union, Halifax's Huddersfield Government, Reichskommissariat Großbritannien, The Independent State of Scotland/Wales/England etc. Also some other things like what happened to the British government, maybe randomising when Barbarossa and Pearl Harbour happen, but yeah.

>Nowhere Islands get invaded by a capitalist empire headed by a guy who's literally called "Porky"

>money gets introduced when it used to not be needed

>inhabitants become irritable and antisocial the more they become incorporated into the empire due to consumerism, becoming passive in the face of oppression inherent in the system and not resisting at all

This game wasn't released in the West on account of it being to woke

How so? the enemies are literally evil ruskies with soviet aesthetics who actually do launch nukes at america without any good reason.

The US invading generic middle eastern country in the wake of an anti-western coup only for literal nukes to blow up in their face is pretty satirical

It's not paranoia, just ignorance and computer iliteracy.

I know how to pirate games.

Anyone here like to play tactical shooters like Squad, Insurgency, or Ground Branch?

Been looking around for people to play with who aren't reactionaries.

Do a crisis management type game where you try hold together a recently established socialist state after a revolution.

You try to keep the nation together in the face of uncooperative internal forces, party division, imperialist forces constantly trying to coup/sanction you, and a myriad of natural disasters. You don't act as any specific branch of the state but rather the state as a whole as you manage infrastructure, defense, distribution, production, ect.

I like insurgency, it's good fun

Hidden Agenda, Rogue State

I admit more games like that would be fun though.

That sound fun gonna start working on it.

Ty Camrade

Gonna make a prototype i will be reporting later

so what should i add ?

Internal Forces :

-Party Unity

-Popular Support

-Union Support

-Regional Support

-People’s Assembly

-Other Groups : ecologist

External Forces :

-Imperialist Forces

-Neighboring countries

-External Support :

-Neighboring Revolutionary

-International Support

Also the game will be on 4 panel :

-The assembly panel : laws

-The economic panel : economics with either a market based or with a socialist planning

-The diplomatic panel : Counter espionage, external support, exporter the revolution

-The Map Panel : build infrastructure/industry, see natural disaster like flooding etc

Gonna make it modular for modding.

Oh shit, that's fucking nice.

I would add patriot support too in internal forces.

As for external forces, I'd separate US, EU, Russia, and China.

Also perhaps include an "international reputation " level that increases or decreases based on your internal actions.

yeah i will add international reputation that can be damage by the US throw event, for instance if a natural disaster happen and your relation with the USA is low, you will get a event of the USA agents trying the worsen, like for example a flood happen USA agents will offer rice or other necessity in exchange for tails of livestock, or piece of machinery etc.

the patriots is counted in the popular support

There's literally no chance you'd get caught.

I just buy the dlc because I'm autistic about having all the dlc show up as purchased on Steam.

Does anyone know some comfy post-apocalypse/awoken AI VNs/other games? I wanna play other stuff like Analogue: A Hate Story.

I played this demo called 7388 that was kinda cute but it was never finished. And I played this furry porn game that had this premise too. But that's it.

That sounds good from reading the description!

AI always make me feel some kinda way. Maybe it's because they're so innocent. Maybe I just watched 'The Second Renaissance' too many times. Or maybe it's more the 'fish out of water from a more civilised time' I relate to, I dunno.

Which specifically? I haven't gone older than EU3 but I've never had any problems on Win10

You're thinking of Modern Warfare 2, which is a fucktarded full-scale Russian invasion of mainland USA, famous for shit like "Ramirez! Secure Burger Town!"

CoD 4 is Modern Warfare 1. The burger story is somewhere in the ME (IIRC the map actually shows it's smack in the middle of the Arabian peninsula, which is hilarious). The burgers get toasted repeatedly and the player shoots their way through places that used to be a functioning civilization. The bong story follows SAS who are portrayed as literally just mercs who delight in killing random people. The first level after the tutorial has the SAS getting a stiffy from executing a ship's crew while they're asleep. There's also a level where you literally play out the Collateral Murder video as the gunner.

>that Germany

Ugh….what could've been

TBH I don't think there was ever really a realistic chance of Germany conquering the USSR, even if they chased the Red Army all the way to Moscow, the Germans wouldn't be able to survive the attrition the war would cause them for long. Napoleon found that out too and he was twice the commander. The government could just leave to the East and leave the Germans to freeze in the ruins of Moscow, and fight a guerilla war against their overextended supply chain.

Thanks for looking at my thing though.

Hey, I will not kindly take to all this Stellaris hate.

It's still flawed as all hell, but the new introduction of population dynamics and strata and classes is an amazing addition, bringing in some Vicky-esque mechanics into it.

In general, I find the presence of this notion of a prelapsarian gaming world permeating this thread really tiring.

>EA bad! Activision bad! More like Badthesda amirite fellow Gamers™?

I absolutely love Night in the Woods. There's the obvious parts like Bae being part of the "Young Socialists of America", the economic woes of the working class, general sympathy for a kind of "fun anarchism" being shown by both Mae and Gregg, there's a literal line about punching Nazis, and various instances of just general class consciousness.

But then there's the subtext, in which a murderous cult sacrifices the young, poor and undesired to a giant Cthulhu-monster in the ground, to return to a better time and bring the jobs back. It's not too hard to extrapolate that "sacrificing the unwanted to the giant monster" can easily be read as cutting social welfare, and instead of appeasing and praying to a giant eldritch abomination in the ground, it is to appease the Economy™ (which I guess one can also just call an eldritch abomination capitalists pray to [I'm 14 and this is deep])

There's also multiple mentions in the lore that like a hundred years ago, there was a worker's strike in the town, and the industrialist called in the army and they were mowed down… basically the furry version of the West Virginia coal wars. There's also a story about a boss screwing over the miners, and he knocked out the last remaining tooth of one of the miners, so they got together and jumped him and pulled out all his teeth. They kept them and after the boss died, they dug up his grave and stole his skull. Any time the workers would get screwed over they'd put the teeth back in the skull until they'd "taken care" of the problem. A worker's union that will literally fight for you.

I always wanted a zombie apocalypse/virus/nuclear war (could have different scenarios) game where you have to try deal with the restarting of society. Just imagine the possibilities. Since I had this idea 10+ years ago there's been some games that come closer to this than what we had then (say the Rebuild series or that one 3rd person zombie game where you build your base), but nothing that achieves what I would have actually wanted. I mean just imagine the possibilities of starting society from scratch.

The way I originally imagined this game would be starting as a 1st person survival game for the first few hours, then as you meet other people and secure your own survival you build towards a stable little community. Then at some point you become more of a 'mayor' and start spending most of your game behind a desk in a grand strategy style interface - still participating as a tactical leader in raids and such in 1st person if you choose or visiting other faction's bases in person. Eventually through conquest or diplomacy you are a president or king or whatever depending on government philosophy, and have to start dealing with the problems of restarting society proper - eradicating the zombies in your area, or burning the dead in the virus scenario, and trying to keep people content as you build your new world and slowly try to restore 'the world that was' (perhaps with some big changes if you decide to put the pieces back together differently). As the game goes on perhaps you would simply try to restore your own little province, or a nation, or the whole world, having to deal with natural and human obstacles along the way.

I dunno, I think it would be cool. My problem with games like Rebuild and so on are basically their small scale, and their lack of depth and detail.

>Interesting, but would be very difficult to implement

Oh, well of course, it's just my dream game not a realistic idea.

If I had to make it more achievable, I would cut out the 1st person mode of the game and just start out in GSG mode - you could just start as the leader of a small group of 5-10 people (with you deciding the initial characteristics of your group) and grow from there.

It would be a sort of combination of a 4X and Hidden Agenda where you would be confronted with dilemmas, like, one of your researchers wants to spend the budget on developing a pathogen that could destroy all zombies if sprayed over them, your engineer wants to spend the resources on manufacturing a sturdy steel pickaxe/shovel weapon for all expedition groups and combat teams. Your decisions in stuff like this would help define your society (practical and down to earth but basic or high-tech and specialised but perhaps just repeating the old mistakes). The prime 'source' would be the book World War Z.

>A political party simulator, where you manage a small leftist party in an unnamed Eastern European country with the end goal of either winning an election or taking the government through a revolution. Fighting back the EU's bullshit, revisionist party members, fascists, economic sanctions, and the corporate media.

>An X-Com style TBS game in either a neoliberal cyberpunk setting in an onset of a first contact event or a "normal world" setting secretly controlled by huge organizations which hide away anomalous entities and huge technological achievements for themselves to preserve the status quo

4X kind of game but based on real economics with input/output tables instead of an abstracted model.

Instead of "baked-in" civilizations you have dynamic ones (picture Civilization but the barbarians could found a city state and city states could turn into proper civs). And you can "regress" as well. Civ VI almost has this in Rise and Fall where your cities can secede and become free cities, but that's mostly so they can be grabbed by other civs. And if you play as anything other than a "classic" civ (you should be able to go barbarian if you want), the mechanics change because society is not an autocracy any more.

Basically Wargame: Red Dragon but the campaign is an alternate history world conquest scenario set in the 50's where you play as a Soviet Union free of revisionists and hell bent on world revolution

Did anyone ever play Che (Guerilla war in the US) for NES?

>the original video games were shareware by computer nerds doing it for fun

No. The original video games were developed within the U.S. Military and were primarily wargames or ports of games like chess. They were meant to pacify the populace with simulated warfare so they would never have the will to do real warfare against the U.S. Govt.

Stop playing video games.

I want to have a political game where you play in a fictional East Euro country after WW2 as the leader of soviet backed party. You set up the country and the party at first, like the political system of the country or the official kdeology of the party. The goal of to achieve power starting from 1945 to 1953, and to consolidate it. Think of it like Ostalgie and CitK combined, as you have little power in the beginning, you have to deal with the democrats and other assorted parties. Uncle Joe acts as a tutorial and threat, giving you (usually) solid advice to dismantle the other parties, if you abide by them, he likes and aids you more, if you do not, he dislikes you. If Stalin starts to hate you, he will try to displace you. You will have multiple ways of coming into power, like winning elections, uniting with the other parties, military coup or popular revolution both violent and peaceful. You will talk with other socialist leaders and cultivate relations with them, attend conferences, decide on your policy on COMECON and WPO. Of course you will have the option to go revisionist as well. In 1953, Stalin will die and depending on what happened in the game, either Beria, Malenkov, Molotov or Khrushchev will come into power and the game will tell you what happened in the world.

i'd rather some Red Dawn type game where you can play as the Warsaw Pact or NATO during a conventional war in the U.S. circa 1970s-80s.

there was this one fucking excellent book by a russian author which takes the POV of the orcs in the LOTR and shows the elves as being a bunch of bougie bastard but I fucking forgot the name of it, my bad. you're right though. I mean technically in medieval-fantasy settings, there are no proletariat because for some reason the world is set in perpetual feudalism for thousands and thousands of years with no recourse for industrial revolution, nor a proletarian class. (which is why c0da by micheal kirkbride is the best thing to ever come out of tes lore, bar the 36 amphetamine-binged sermons of vivec.)

>world is set in perpetual feudalism for thousands and thousands of years with no recourse for industrial revolution

This actually reminds of a book I read during my secondary school years, Mistsomething, just your average fantasy shit with it's own deal or how MAGICKK works.

But I remember at one point they explain why during the reign of this immortal emperor of theirs they remained on the same technological level for hundreds of years.

And it was basically him and his inquisitors removing whole cities whenever something advanced is invented. Like stopping the "invention" of gunpowder a number of times in different places during his rule.

Or drafting a large number of the male population every few years and sending them off to fight creatures he himself created to keep the population not strong enough to rise against him.

Try "Of Orcs and Men", the story is kinda a turn on-it's-head fantasy. You play as the orcs and it has a very anti-racist standpoint. The gameplay's a bit janky and the story can be kinda all over the place at times. But it did have spin-off games that are a little better. Story wise the're not as in depth as the first but still really fun

Play Mechwarrior Living Legends instead

Orwell has the potential to be good, but it needs to have more options to affect the world. I liked the influencer mechanism in the second season. It would have been cooler if you had the chance to use random knowledge to affect the world, like upload a scandal you found to destabilise the government.

Would have thought a game like this be permanently banned from steam. You know, as how all major corporations are deeply involved with the US state.

>orcs are the proles of any fantasy setting, naturally.

This is pretty much only true of LotR, which set the model for orcs but has also been ignored on pretty much everything but aesthetics. In almost all other fiction with orcs, they are primmie barbarians as seen by the ruling empire. Shit, most fantasy is feudal with no proletariat whatsoever. Another way LotR is unusual - Saruman guiding the orcs through an industrial revolution is what makes them function as proles.

Part of the point of TES is everybody sucks. There is no good side to any conflict, just less shit ones (arguably). Ambiguity is a major theme of the series, so you can't even be sure which is the lesser evil (and because in TES existence is perception, this means there probably isn't a lesser evil in actuality).

Canon is whatever you do in the game. Some of the engine's well known glitches have been incorporated into the lore, as have console commands.

could you use CHIM to attain luxury gay space communism?

also eso is good

No, TES universe doesn't obey historical materialism. It's explicitly a degenerating world where new knowledge isn't created and old knowledge is being lost constantly. CHIM cannot transcend the fundamental nature of the universe as the dream of the Godhead. To achieve CHIM is to recognize that you are in the dream and that you are the Godhead, but are also your "character" in the dream. You could maybe take people to space and be gay but it wouldn't be communism as a mode of production.

File: 6140b6a64536323⋯.pdf (1003.27 KB, The Last Ringbearer.pdf)

The Last Ringbearer? And TES is justified as stagnant (actually degenerative) by the fundamental ontology of the universe. Perpetual feudalism is usually stupid bullshit (or justified by divine right of kings being real) but in the case of TES there's an actual reason for it - as the dream goes on the Godhead forgets shit so everything is slowly decaying and nothing progresses.

This is not so crazy when you consider that this is actually happening IRL right now, where the US intelligence community is going after any inventions people come up with to keep them away from patent registration.

>Like stopping the "invention" of gunpowder a number of times in different places during his rule.

That's kind of silly. Gunpowder is a pretty simple thing to make.

Woah, bringing me back to the good old days of >>>/tes/

Is there such a thing as a 'materialist' fantasy (I realize that's technically an oxymoron)? I mean a more rigorous fantasy setting which takes into account the material conditions of it's universe and realistically depicts divergent political-economic structures. Like there are no settings I can think of that include things like 'magic' and ridiculous phenomena and also treat them as an integrated part of society. There must be thousands of shitty dnd home brew corny paperback type settings where it is possible to literally conjure food out of thin air but agriculture and peasants still exist. And for that matter, few writers seem to have any conception of what a peasant actually is, and despite being feudal by default I have literally never seen serfdom depicted in fantasy fiction, not even in gritty 'realistic' franchises like asoiaf. Which doesn't even touch on the lack of representation of any form of social configuration that isn't monarchical, or the literal absence of relationships of production that aren't based on some Robinson Crusoe-tier bullshit 'free association'. I guess some settings get points for at least depicting slavery.

I wonder what drives gamers to develop such convictive class cuckoldry, the majority of them seem to think developers get paid royalties for the company's sales. Even worse is when they defend p2w garbage under the pretense of freemium services.

Arcanum sort of deals with this.

>Is there such a thing as a 'materialist' fantasy (I realize that's technically an oxymoron)?

It isn't. In fantasy where you have magic and gods, those things are just part of that universe's material reality.

>I mean a more rigorous fantasy setting which takes into account the material conditions of it's universe and realistically depicts divergent political-economic structures.

I wish this was out there too, tbh.

>There must be thousands of shitty dnd home brew corny paperback type settings where it is possible to literally conjure food out of thin air but agriculture and peasants still exist.

The actual rules for DnD are dumb like this. Notoriously it used to be cheaper to buy a 10' ladder than a 10' pole. This is how little thought goes into shit like that. I will plug Fantasy Craft (D&D derivative) for basing its gear rules on LTV principles (rolling to generate value based on labor time) and having a separate economy for capital that's based on reputation (for buying private property, political favors, etc). The rule descriptions even directly imply capitalist exploitation. Pics related.

>And for that matter, few writers seem to have any conception of what a peasant actually is, and despite being feudal by default I have literally never seen serfdom depicted in fantasy fiction, not even in gritty 'realistic' franchises like asoiaf.

IIRC there are a couple of bits from the asoiaf books and the GoT show that have people giving their tributes to a lord, but it's generally to illustrate the state of the realm being shit (can't afford muh tributes). This kind of thing is almost completely absent though, yeah.

Haven't played the demo but:

Also "The Witcher" series fits. Haven't played the third one though. In the first one Geralt asks some rich fatass why he doesn't feel guilty having a huge feast with so many people starving. Then there are the themes of colonization (Vrans being destroyed by humans trying to colonize it), the elites using idpol to pit different races against each other through flyers and fake stories, the free state of Vergen where there's no hierarchy. There's a conversation in the first one where Geralt and the dwarf complain about moral relativity, and how the true monsters hide behind riches, religion, and the law.

I think modern post apocalypse shit has gotten too far away from the message of 'mankind's folly destroyed his own existence and that of the world, maybe we all need to take a bit more care about taking the world for granted' into 'WHOA CHECK OUT THIS COOL FLAMETHROWER! LET'S GO KILL SOME MOHAWK'D BANDITS!'

As OP, I agree it's not Marxist, but it is a good game with a good message.

I was planning to make more lists that cast a wider net for things like Green games, anti-imperialist games, anti-feudal etc but never got round to it because, idk, laziness/depression.

no it really is a shitty, fucking boring, liberal brainrot game

Stop embarrassing yourself.

Just want to let you guys know that grand strat is the best game to play if you want to keep stay in a rulership mindset.

Might become handy when the wars start breaking out.

Some japanase game like tales of or somenting but marxism?.

ty ty.

I'm still working on my videos ATM. All the Anthem backlash has been funny to watch, the gaming industry strikes out yet again.

Well I just wanna know if there are some japanese game anime-style with marxism innuendos.

It's not really my kind of game (well okay, I did enjoy Akiba Strip so it's not like I can claim not to be a weeb), Persona 5 supposedly has you fighting against big business though.

Already played, but is more anarchist.

euhh… try 'go go DPRK'?

Reactionary bullshit, devs aren't japanse and also they are libtards.

yeah well i somehow didn't think it would be actually positive.

Can we talk about the THQ AMA here?

Sure, did the anons from /v/ manage to make the developers say any dirty words?

I assume so, I'm seeing lots of article headlines that it was the worst thing ever, so I was hoping for some information here about what went down.

From what I can tell basically nothing, everyone was just mad that they dared to go on such an evil site as 8chan that is all for child pornography (never mind the fact that Reddit of all sites had more of a reputation for it back in the day, yeah am I the only one to remember that?).

i know there was r/jailbait and creepshot subreddits but wasn't /b/ always a place with child porn in it?

The Tropico series is pretty great.

Difference is /b/ would delete any CP found as a matter of policy. The shit on reddit was completely allowed by the site until one day it wasn't.

>The shit on reddit was completely allowed by the site until one day it wasn't.

Just goes to show that once you spread your legs for corporations and advertisers all is forgiven eh?

Posting cheese pizza on the chans was always a way to nuke a thread, because mods delete that shit fast. The one time I saw CP posted on 4chan, was actually a link to 420chan, saying mods were asleep. Entire thread was freaking the fuck out, nuking their caches, and worrying about the party van.

I've never seen it on this site ever except for those weird 'lolita' ads that were all fully clothed and just had links.

you mean real or drawn? drawn of course there's at least three boards for loli shit

jokes on you i was actually editing videos. just think it's BS that people will equivocate the two.

Thoughts about the new Poogeymans?

In addition to my ideas, I think the UK is just a terrible choice for a setting - not only is the UK dull and not renowned for exotic wildlife in any way, but they've even decided to go back to a twee psuedo-historical theme, and even with calling it Sword and Shield - uhh they realise they did the whole knights and chivalry thing with the France (X?) Pokemon right? How is this any different?

If they had any creativity they would have set it in somewhere actually known for its exotic wildlife, like say Africa, or Australia, or maybe India.

I'm getting a switch and honestly outside of BOTW and Odyssey i don't really care for any other franchise

BOTW is damn great, never been into Mario that much though. But there's some other fun games like Mario Kart, Pokken, SSBU.

For sake of contributing I'll leave a link to the GTA Mario Odyssey Trailer

I guess Mario it's the only other game i can think of, i already trie BOTW in Wii u and definitely loved it, i don't like multiplayer games that much and other than Zelda, SMO it's the closest there is to a solid adventure game on the switch, i don't like the combat from Xenoblade in case you were going to recommend that one.

CD Projekt's GOG.com digital distribution platform has seemingly confirmed that it is suffering financial difficulties, and its attempt to balance the books is unlikely to be welcomed by customers: the loss of the Fair Price Package programme.

Since its launch as Good Old Games back in 2008, GOG.com has worked to position itself as a pro-consumer distribution platform with features including a guarantee of zero digital rights management (DRM) restrictions and a generous refund policy. In 2014 the company launched then cancelled a tiered regional pricing system in favour of having all games cost exactly the same regardless of which country you reside in or which currency you use - a handy way to cut off the grey market for keys purchased in one country and resold somewhere the titles are more expensive, too.

In support of that scheme, the company pledged to make up the difference from its own pocket so as to ensure that neither developers nor customers would be left holding the bag. Over time, this became the Fair Price Package (FPP) programme: Regional pricing was enforced, but where a game is priced higher than the North American version the difference was returned to buyers in the form of store credit - an offer which is now going away. 'In actual numbers,' the company explains in a statement on the matter, 'on average, we give users back 12 percent of the game price from our own pocket. In some cases, this number can reach as high as 37 percent.

'In the past, we were able to cover these extra costs from our cut and still turn a small profit. Unfortunately, this is not the case any more. With an increasing share paid to developers, our cut gets smaller. However, we look at it, at the end of the day we are a store and need to make sure we sell games without a loss. Removing FPP is not a decision we make lightly, but by making this change, we will be able to offer better conditions to game creators, which — in turn — will allow us to offer you more curated classic games and new releases. All DRM-free.'

The removal of the FPP programme seemingly confirms reported financial troubles at the company, which followed GOG.com laying off around ten percent of its staff earlier this month - a move the company claimed was part of an ongoing year-long restructuring programme, but which former employees claimed was the result of the fact 'revenue couldn't keep up with growth' and that the company has been 'dangerously close to being in the red' for months.

GOG.com is facing increasing pressure from competitors, too: When the service launched on the dual hooks of offering out-of-print classic games and a no-DRM policy, it was near-unique in the industry; its shift to triple-A titles, however, put it in direct competition with Valve's Steam platform. Now, developers have a choice of earning upwards of 90 percent of revenue on indie-focused Itch.io, 88 percent of revenue on Epic's freshly-launched digital distribution service, a tiered 70 percent rising to 80 percent when certain sales targets are hit on Steam, or a flat 70 percent on GOG.com - though the company does offer cash advances, under the terms of which royalty payments are reduced to 60 percent until the advance is paid back then returned to the original 70 percent.

I've always been a filthy Steam fag anyways (sorry)

Trying to sell AAA games is stupid though, why you gonna try compete with the big dogs? I mean it's called good OLD games. They're all trash anyways.

They made some dumb choices and have been bleeding money, which is a problem since CDPR went public and wants returns from everything

the problem there is they've already got all the old games they can reliable make money off of

the rest are either tied down in years of "who owns what part" or the devs or publishers don't exist anymore

They need to refocus on what they want to do. Their new storefront fucking sucks beyond belief and they got rid of the user "game mixes"

That said, they have way too many employees for what they should be doing, they went on a huge hiring and building spree after Witcher 3 was a success

>why social-democracy fails

Which one should I get?

Is the DLC worth it or is it shit?

Should I buy all the DLC or no?

Help FAST I wanna play before I sleep!

Option 3: You should trade for it

Steam trading is actually existing communism.

I have a key, I'll give it yer for 4 CSGO keys ($8-9) + some trading cards or whatever else. What do you say?

Oops, turns out I already traded it.

Well, still, you can get it for 5 keys from the first post here (you can get better deals trading game key for game key but I'm guessing you don't have any).

too late I found a torrent on /t/, sorry bro.

Oh… well I dunno why you were even considering buying it then lol. You can find a torrent for any AAA game. Enjoy though.

>buying paradox dlc

Someone has to host the multiplayer :P

>What's a communist game?

Slaves to Armok II: Dwarf Fortress

This game started out with a market based economy but it was not only draining on FPS but it also created massive wealth inequality where some dwarves would end up in luxury while others literally could not afford anything at all. To alleviate the homelessness they added the option to check certain houses as "free" as a form of social housing. In the end they removed the entire economy system so now all dwarves contribute according to their ability and take according to their needs. It's still possible to trade with other nations but this trade is not done with money, all trade is done through bargaining of goods.

Dawn of Man is a good game, go get it.

I thought it looked interesting-ish but how much depth is there really? I mean surely it's just pretty basic?

Leftist are fake gamers

It is mostly about managing a settlement with really finite/slow replenishing resources so even in the late game things can be pretty difficult: especially as your population expands. There are also a lot of scenarios and starting locations so there is some good replayability.

You guys wanna talk about the state of video game industry? Recent events has made people more acceptable to unionization

Last time i visited the kotakuinaction subreddit a rather highly upvoted post claimed he is happy being a slave of the capitalist system and would rather do that than try socialism. How have things changed?

Enjoy your season passes, microtransactions, and whatever new monetization schemes the come up with next.

Clearly there's no way to play videogames without buying every AAA game out and the season pass on preorder.

Ehh, I dunno, I think things are still too split between 'either you're with us or you're a Nazi' for game devs to really be mobilised.

How can you pirate a free game?

Surely it is impossible to steal something that is free and has no restrictions on its license.

Games that are free to download from the dev's site or through some kind of thing could still be under some 'no unauthorised distribution' license.

but you're probably overthinking a chad/virgin image.

With a full copyleft even that is impossible , the author just releases the game out into the wild for people to do what they will with it.

Clarification: If the author asks nothing , applies no restriction on the license and doesn't even want publicity or attribution then there is nothing there to steal.

You can't steal an object when the original is still in the hands of the person you copied it off retard

Most free games don't have a full copyright/left allowance

Lol, in the next part of the Bioshock video I'm editing my friend is shilling for Fallout 76 even after the beta. SMH.

Forgive the console peasants for they know not what they do.

my friend is play mainly on pc

Also have you tried Warframe ? there a lot of contradiction in this game.

RIP then, I guess it takes all kinds.

Also nah I've never played it, heard it's the best F2P game out there though.

Oh and speaking of which, there's some more game news I had, apparently Artefact (the DOTA card game!) has lost 99% of its playerbase from launch and Valve has laid off the team that worked on it. Rest in piss I guess.

Why does no one play board games?

Because I have no friends ofc?

In seriousness though, they're expensive, bulky, and require lots of prep and likeminded people. I agree they can be a lot of fun but it's certainly easier to just fire up Steam.

I played enough board games to know that this is gonna be one of those really long and complicated board games that burns newcomers to the hobby out.

>long and complicated

but you guys find paradox games a cake walk? it lasts the length of your average film.

Most people in RL don't play Paradox autism though. Plus, I've played board games that lasted 3-4 hours.

vampire the masquerade bloodlines had a faction that were more or less vampire anarchists, also just so happened to be the some of the only people who won't betray you at the end

Ayy I'm currently playing through that (at my friends). Good point I should add them to the list whenever I bother to update it.

That chick is kind of a bitch though.

There is a lot of down time in board game coz you have to wait for others to finish their turn. It really drags the momentum of the game down

Video game is for 12 year old and autistic children the last video game i played was ping pong for atari

wow what a fucking spergo you played a game once fuccking piece of shit

Anyone try this yet.

School shooter, ban this poster.

Im gonna try it when i get my PC back. Tbh looks v interesting (i also think it was made by czechs so i hope like kremlin games they know what the fuck they are on about). I find the inclusion of a market system a little odd since the whole thing is meant to be about being a GOSPLAN but we'll see. Like personally i would have everything have a set value and just change supply va demand or even have a black market price if you fail to meet demand for consumer goods. Doesnt look like the game is meant to be anticom agitpop tho unlike Soviet City.

>The price of everything is connected to the cost of work and resources

Based and LTVpilled.

So did anyone try Soviet Republic?

I did.

Building anything is a mess because you need to spend a lot of time leveling everything and the leveling function isn't even that precise or good. The devs are actively working on it so I guess they will fix it sooner or later, it's really the only thing that stops me from playing more.

That is sad tbh. I guess I am the radical centrist and play whatever faction I want and find a balance between all of them

So, what does everyone think of Epic Games getting exclusivity for The Outer Worlds?

>Playing Soviet Republic with 10 hrs of Yugoslav Communist Music

Comfy tbh anons.

Also 90% sure the makers of the game are Slovak.

It sucks, but being excited about a game that's 1+ years from release is stupid anyway, it's basically vapourware at that point. Might never happen anyway.

Also something seems a bit off about the complaints about this, Steam isn't really that great, though I'll agree Epic is shady too.

I love it. All these liberals proclaiming their love for competition and free enterprise are screeching now that China is taking over their circus. The w*esternoid fears the dengist.
