You should watch a documentary called "The Weight of Chains" of you havent. Really good documentary on the US and EU using sabotage and NATO to rape yugoslavia. The filmmaker uploaded the while thing on YouTube for free

This isn't as good as the weight of chains because it was retroactively assembled from various news reports and documentaries on the matter but it's well edited and covers NATO and global capitalists basically doing Yugoslavia all over again in Libya

Does anyone have any interviews or videos of Libyan citizens and what they thought of Gaddafi and the state of Libya before it got wrecked?

Do you have the Wikileaks link for the document in that fourth image? I had it at one point but lost the link.

Also interested in this, but note that it's gonna vary a lot depending on which tribe or area the respondents hail from. Eastern Libyans, especially from the Benghazi elite, were partially marginalized economically by Gaddafi's and the Italians' crackdown on their human trafficking business. Since many eastern Libyans are racist as FUCK as well, many considered him a race traitor for allying with certain black tribes. These are also they guys that were mainly responsible for the mass killings of black migrant workers they claimed were 'mercenaries' during the revolution.

Libya is a country with deep sectarian divisions in general.

Are there any good overall sources on stuff that happened in Libya? I think it's a great way to wake people up to the fact NATO/UN a shit but all westerners saw was "BAD DICTATOR DEAD LMAO".

Wasn't Qaddafi basically a figurehead too? As far as I know when he gave himself the title "Brotherly Guide to the Revolution" or something he gave up most of the actual responsibility of statesmanship.

I read a good book about the Libya intervention by a Swedish polsci professor named Ola Tunander. He basically argues for the evidence pointing to how the Libyan intervention and the toppling of Gadaffi was planned some time in advance by France, the US and UK, and how the regime was toppled in practice. He also goes into detail about how the rebels 'couped' the media coverage of the conflict by establishing a media centre in Benghazi where Western journalists were fed the narrative the rebels wanted them to hear. Illuminating read, really. Shows how even well-intentioned and principled journalists can become unwitting accomplices to the most egregious lies and propaganda.

Problem is that I can't find the book in English. On the off chance that you read Norwegian, this is it: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/41668341-libyakrigen---bruken-av-retorikk-og-bedrag-for-delegge-en-stat

Thought so. Fear not, if the info in the book is true, you'll probably find out about it from other sources.

Here are the main conclusions though, IIRC:

- The Libyan intervention was most likely planned before the 2011 protests erupted.

- There was an extensive and effective disinfo campaign from the rebel side.

- The regime fell due to internal divisions. Former loyalists and Libyan emigres turned rebels after co-ordinating with France and following an inflow of cash from Qatar, serving as proxy.

- The Libyan intervention had nothing to do with preserving human rights and everything to do with ye olde geopolitical interests (shocking, I know).

- The Libyan intervention is responsible for the reemergence of the Libyan slave trade, a traditional source of income for certain Libyan elites, specifically those centered around Benghazi, east in Libya (who also were some of the most bitter opponents of Gadaffi).

- The Libyan intervention probably destroyed the legitimacy of the concept of UN R2P-operations for the foreseeable future.
