Not exactly a leftist but what he did was pretty amazing. Basically India has one of the most corrupt and unaccountable governments, they essentially function like private corporations. The country is ruled by 2 megaparties that alternate power just like Democrats and Republicans.
This guy started a new party just 2 years ago that ran on a platform of anti corruption, good governance, social programs etc. In the capital state elections, he won 67 out of 70 seats.
Thats like the Green Party winning the majority of seats in Alabama.
The best part is hes not a phony and has actually delivered amazing results.
