 No.609778

What caused the Yugoslavian economy to fall apart?

 No.609801

They couldnt handle the glorious bunker-based economy of Albania.

 No.609808

>>609778

Long-story: It was partially the result of the inevitable contradictions of "market-socialism" and other Yugoslavian revisionist practices coming back to bite them.

Short story: The IMF fucked them hard.

Revisionism

 No.609831

The spirit of Envar reached out from the mother bunker to punish them for their revisionism.

 No.609842

Actual response:

They were more or less leaning heavily on trade/subsidies and whatnot from the US. When Reagan got power, he stopped supporting them immediately and funded far-right nationalists groups, causing Yugoslavia to fall apart in chaos.

Thats how I understand it.

Lesson: Never depend on capitalist countries.

 No.609849

IMF loans and Reagan+Bush exaserbating the internal divisions after Tito died.

Real answer: once the Warsaw Pact was no longer a credible threat NATO could safely direct their attention to eliminating the last multicultural socialist threat to its hegemony.

>It was partially the result of the inevitable contradictions of "market-socialism"

Bullshit.

>The IMF fucked them hard.

Of course they did. It was a Third World country trying to industrialize itself through sheer alternative property schemes. And given the slow growth, they wanted a faster way to get funding. Since Stalin literally got scared and cut the money, Tito saw the IMF as an option.

btw: The Oil Crsis of 1973. Is like no one even remembers this shit hit hard Yugoslavia (Oil exportation) and a lot of third world countries (like Peru, that was pulling a "south america yugoslavia" at the time")
