Helllo

First off, I'll state that when i originally lurked here, i didn't take much of it serious, and i thought those that did were doing it to be ironic. Though, i was in fact, wrong.

Many of you here have some very nice ideas, viewpoints, and schools of thought. I'm finding it all quite interesting.

First Question

As i have not been here too long, i was under the impression that people juet post ironically. I now do not believe that to be the case, but i would like to hear an opinion on this from people who frequent often. Is it mostly memes? Are there sierious discussions? I know it's an imageboard, and you can't escape memes, i have no problem with them actually; they're fun. My main question is how many of the posters here are legitimate, read theory, and are serious, or at least semi-serious with the things they say?

Second Question

Buzzwords

What are/is

>spooks

>porkys

>bourgeois

>seizing the means of production

>Cultural Marxis (i get called this all the time, I've watched videos and read articles about it, but I'm not sure i get what they are trying to say)

>stirner (that meme guy with the meme face)

Third question

Anarchism

Okay, i see a lot of different ideas and sects about it. I'm not too sure how it works though. This is probably because i associate that word with total destruction of everything, though i know that generally isn't the case. How do i find out more about actual anarchy and the sects it has? Are there any books and documentaries you would recommend?

Fourth question

What are you doing with your vote

(if you live in the US)

If Bernie doesn't make it, what are you going to do if It's Trump vs Clinton?

Part of me wants to say Trump, as i believe for the greater good it could further ignite the flames for revolution. Another part of me says to settle with the status Que and vote for Hillary (even if she doesn't represent any of my political beliefs)

I hear many say that if i don't vote for her, Trump will win, so therefore i must vote for her. But i also feel like that would be betraying myself. This lesser evil argument gives me a headache.

Normally i would vote independent anyway, but I'm just getting hounded for this. So I'm sort of at a crossroads on this. Can anyone give me an explanation for why the one choice is right, and the other wrong, and vice-vera?

thanks

>If Bernie doesn't make it, what are you going to do if It's Trump vs Clinton?

it's worth it to vote hillary, her policies at least pretend to care about the poor.

https://www.hillaryclinton.com/issues/

meanwhile trump wants to lower the tax on the rich to 25% down from 39%, god knows how awful this will fuck us in the long run

accelerationism is a meme. shit will just get worse and never get better

 No.611081

Man, I'd answer the fuck out of this if I wasn't on my shitty phone.

I'm conflicted by this however.

8 years of nothing… the momentum slows into nothingness.. It's like some of these candidates are slowing down progress to the point where everyone becomes apathetic, or at least, i do.

Though your point about Trump fucking us over is solid, I'm trying to weigh the scales and look at the likelyhood of things to happen *if they were so fortunate enough to be the nominee*.

Hillary would still screw us over. Both Trump and Hillary pander when they need to, and then forget about you and stab you in the back.

As i said, i know Hillary is more stable and predictable… potential 8 years of draining/lying/backstabing shit compared to the potential 4 years of general shit, and chaotic disastrous shit.

Given the odds, in the long run, Trump as leader seems like it would ignite the flames to stir even more likelihood for massive revolution and change after those potential four years.

But then, Hillary seems like a more sensible choice. But she goes against the vast majority of what i believe in, as does Trump.

I don't want my vote to legitimize and say that her and the DNC is acceptable.

Quick reminder, i would have voted third party in this matchup anyway before sanders jumped in.

It's just the pressure from others, such as family and friends saying that if i don't vote for Hillary, I've screwed this all.

Sorry if i am incoherent, i am completely exhausted.

>Trump as leader seems like it would ignite the flames to stir even more likelihood for massive revolution and change after those potential four years.

this is wrong. Reagan and Dubya, who were both worse than Trump, never caused anything to happen. people are too preoccupied with keeping their own lives afloat

> Is it mostly memes?

not as much as other boards.

> Are there sierious discussions?

more so than /pol/ at least, not as much as I would like.

I would say most people are serious with what they say, and most people are genuine. Maybe that's because the trolls are so easy to spot.

>spooks

Things that don't actually exist without ideology to back them up. Nations, religion, god, morality. They are just ghosts that haunt our thought, and are terrible things for people to base their ideas on.

>porkys

Capitalist pigs. The private owners of the means of production

>bourgeois

See above. That is it's use here.

>seizing the means of production

Taking the means of production (factories, land, mines etc) from private owners and generally (in our context) giving them to the workers/community.

>Cultural Marxis (i get called this all the time, I've watched videos and read articles about it, but I'm not sure i get what they are trying to say)

It can mean various things. Generally around 8chan it refers to the idea that communists planted the 'progressive' ideas of neo-liberalism into the culture of society to destroy it. It's a pretty retarded thing to believe in once you know what you are dealing with.

>stirner (that meme guy with the meme face)

He wrote about spooks.

>Anarchism

Anarchism is a lack of a state to enforce it's will on society. Anarchists want to destroy the state and have anarchism (same thing as communism). Communists want to capture the state and use it to enforce the will of the workers until such time that the state is no longer needed, and then we have anarchism.

>What are you doing with your vote

I live in Aus and I don't vote.

Honestly, there can be really good discussion found on a number of the threads, it's just hard to weed out through all the shitposts, and bait. There's always some silver lining. However I find great joy in all the other shit too.

/leftypol/ is where I come for the fun and not to serious topics that don't feel deadly serious, however when I want solely serious discussion about theory I go to bunkerchan, the smaller community is easier to manage and the bunker is secure from most shitposting.

That's just my two cents.

>If Bernie doesn't make it, what are you going to do if It's Trump vs Clinton?

I live in PA, a state that almost always goes to the Dems in the presidential election, so I'll vote Green. If it looks like Trump is competitive though, and he might be given how much of PA are working-class Dems who might defect, I'll suppress my gag reflex and vote for Shillary. Yeah, she's terrible, but at least she isn't aggressively reactionary. Bernie wants a $15 minimum wage, she wants $12, Trump actually wants it to be lower than what it is ($7.25, which is a poverty wage). And as >>611076 said, Trump wants an even more regressive tax system, while Hillary just wants to keep things as they are.

Such is life in America.

is what? the video? The video is serious. I don't agree with his definitions of Leninism and Stalinism, but I think what he says about 'cultural marxism' is spot on.

 No.613653

>>613481

>I think what he says about 'cultural marxism' is spot on.

But it's not. It's not what people mean when they say Cultural Marxism, at least if they know what they are talking about.

Basically, the idea behind the term is what is seen as an attempt by the left to create a false moral or value equivalence between cultures and identities.

For instance, Cultural Marxism in relation to political correctness might be something like the insistence that alternative genders deserve to be taken seriously, such as genderfluid or genderpunk being just as valid as the more typical man or woman genders. In this case, I agree that the idea of alternative genders is laughable on its face, harmful to the society as a whole, and in no way should there be an implied equivalence between them and the typical binary gender everyone is used to.

Another case in which I think accusations of Cultural Marxism in relation to political correctness are unfounded is the insistence of calling black people black or African American, rather than calling them niggers. It's just a level of basic respect for your fellow humans in this case.

Cultural Marxism is particularly a problem when the assertion is made that different cultures are of equal value to the world, or that all cultures are to be respected equally. This is clearly not the case with cultures such as exist in tribal Africa, Australian aboriginal culture, North American aboriginal culture, many major Islamic countries, etc. These cultures are clearly inferior to most Western culture, East Asian culture, and even many ancient cultures in terms of human development and fulfillment.

It's the latter sense of the term that is most unsettling, but the nature of the term relies on the creation or implication of equivalencies that do not previously exist. It's not vague at all, when looked at in that light.

Basically, people that don't share the Marxist view of society and economics see that view as an artificially enforced equality that doesn't naturally exist. Attaching the term 'cultural' to the front just means they see it as artificially enforcing an equality between groups that doesn't actually exist.

Although I like to think it's less annoying than tumblr, given that nobody apart from namefags can really build up much prestige on a chan (which is why namefagging is cancerous).

> I'm not too sure how it (anarchism) works though

Anarchists believe that the burden of proof rests upon those who would claim hierarchical .privileges for themselves of others. So, if some one wants to be your king, or, your ruler they must prove themselves justified to you and,in-fact, to every one and if they cannot then that authority is illegitimate and should be dismantled by direct action and if necessary revolution.

We post memes, but we have our serious side. That's how imageboards work. I think most of us are serious in the discussion threads, it's not a board where everyone is shitposting.

With regard to buzzwords I agree with >>611090 basically. I would add that porky is used for the bourgeois when they're turning workers against each other and controlling society - porkies are all bourgeois, and the bourgeois as a class acts as porkies, but one is a word used by Marx for the class as a whole and the other a word used in memes to describe specific behaviors.

I'm not an anarchist, but read Bakunin and Proudhon. Anarchists generally seek the destruction not of "everything" but of the state and all social hierarchies.

Voting third party should it be Clinton vs. Trump, both are bad for the working class.

"Cultural Marxism" is simply the Anglo form of "Kulturbolschewismus", a term the Nazis used against all forms of modernism in arts and culture. It's simply a derogative label, not something that is clearly defined. To define it would render it useless for their discourse which is not about insight (Erkenntnis) but rather about creating illusions, in this case the one of a bugaboo.

There is nothing Marxist about cultural Marxism, in fact its a oxymoron.

Libertarian was traditionally left wing until Murray Rothbard co-opted the term. American Libertarianism is just a meme and no one really takes them seriously.
