the communists in vietnam wanted national liberation from imperialism and US/post-colonial hegemony. the US doesn't like it when people want independence so they did the logical thing: go to war with the communists.

because even if the south never originally wanted to fight the north and years before vietnam was unified, the US divided the south to make it fight the north. which gave them a buffer zone to fight the north.

because even if north vietnamese commies did almost all the work, the north actually did receive a lot of arms from the USSR, and was trained by chinese military generals, whom had previously defeated the nationalist KMT in their own nation with vastly inferior numbers and weapons. protracted people's war.

most chinese immigrants who came to vietnam during the 19th century went to the south. not to mention the communist party was lead by a guy named "ho" who pretty much eliminated the very people who funded him. back in 2008, there was also a christian property in the capital taken by the government despite christians protesting against it, and the minister of religion was replaced by some cunt who used to work with the police, who pretty much covered up for big buddhist temples to sell children.

i wish they taught us this in school instead of great leader ho saved the nation from the imperialist americans. not saying they arent, but this war was just 2 nationalist forces going against each other. workers and soldiers who contributed didnt get shit, and dont say i dont know anything when i said that. my grandfather was a high ranking officer, and my grandmother worked in a woodworking factory, my family was still poor af, barely got any land from the "communist" government.
