The "I saw it online yesterday" makes it look like cynicism. I don't think he's being serious, but I don't know him much.
The author of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei made Joshiraku which had very nationalistic and right-wing jokes here and there, Kumeta is right-wing as far as I know. Although some people say he just does it for the edgy.
I can't say anything about the rest. Might I suggest to look into other authors:
For example, Mamoru Oshii, the director of GitS(you mentioned it) and writer of Jin-Roh participated in radical left movements in Japan in the 70s. He was literally fighting on the streets with cops along his classmates. He was confined by his parents though, after being ratted out by a cop. He wrote it in his own homepage (Japanese):

He then said that he has "lost his radicalism" after what happened, but looking at his works I'm pretty sure a bit of it remains in him. He's also good friends with Miyazaki, who's a well-known leftist too.
Ikuhara, the director of Utena and writer of Yuri Kuma and Mawaru Penguindrum, is also left-leaning (although more of the liberal kind). He said in an interview about Utena that he admired the radical left movements of the 70s and he took inspiration from it to direct Utena. He also recruited Seazer for it, who was known back them for the lyrics about revolution.
I also get left-leaning vibes from Imaishi, the director of TTGL, Kill la Kill, Panty & Stocking, or at least his creative team. But I have nothing concrete to back this up.
From now on only things I've read or heard from Japanese people:
- Toei Animation creative team: Toei is one of the few animation studios with a labor union, and it also has the largest one; they also formed the Federation of Cinema and Theatrical Workers Union of Japan and have been fighting for better working conditions ever since; thanks to this they have one of the best working conditions in the animation industry to date. It seems this shows in its creative team. Precure, one of the shows by their creative team, has had some moments in which they've triggered right-wingers too. Pic related.
- Bones studio creative team
- Seiji Takeda: known for being involved in the planning of FMA, Eureka Seven, Code Geass and Darker than Black, he's also the director of the left-leaning MBS TV station.
- Sho Aikawa: not sure about this one; he was the co-writer of Angel Cop which is basically /pol/ the anime, although it seems he took it over the writing just for the final part. It seems he turned left-leaning after that since he has then written things that have completely buttblasted Japanese right-wingers like UN-GO and Eureka Seven AO, which had an independent Okinawa in the setting which triggered Japanese nationalists pretty hard. He's writing Concrete Revolutio, an upcoming anime so we'll see. I'm personally ambivalent.
If I remember more I'll post them.
