His "show" gets watched a lot, so there are a lot of eyeballs on his show to be advertised to. Therefore, a lot of people want to advertise on his "show." They bid between each other to reach an amount that gets them accepted ahead of their competitors and under their "no-go" price. More people see their product/service, and might buy/use it, thus allowing them to stay in business and pay themselves and their employees, and hopefully make some profit to set aside for the future.
It's only irrational if you refuse to look at it from the perspective of the people who enjoy his dumb ass (unless they're hurting people/animals, you can't really tell someone that they can't subjectively have fun), from his perspective and that of his business model, or from the perspective of companies who want to advertise with him. You looking at it as irrationality says, "I don't like it," but confuses understanding the reasons for it happening with an acceptance or liking of said thing, so I guess you decided to cast it out of the realm of reason rather than appear to say it's good or fine.
That said, his "show" is shit and I die inside a little more every time I hear him screech and talk to himself in eight schizophrenic voices at once.
