Is libertarianism just liberalism for edgy dumbasses?

 No.14590

libertarianism is just the opposite spectrum of authoritarianism

I wouldn't call libertarianism anything. It's literally a buzzword at this point. Specify your positions or GTFO

So it's anarcho-communism?

No.

>I wouldn't call libertarianism anything.

Actually, it's very clear what is meant when people talk about libertarianism. What they mean are all ideologies which are pro-market and anti-authoritarian. There's some controversy on how specific anarchist ideologies fit in (I'd say mutualism is libertarian, at the very least), but the term itself is very well-defined, just a little fuzzy around the edges, like - you know - all political terms. You try coming up with a clear-cut definition of conservativism. Have fun.

I doubt you were actually interested in a response, though. Once you're BTFO, you'll create another b8-thread with an anime girl, making the exact same points. You should know that you're a deplorable, disgusting piece of shit when you do so, though.

This, basically. Libertarianism-authoritarianism is a political dichotomy that describes the role that the state should play in society, whereas the left-right dichotomy has more to do with social issues. Libertarians are unique because they advocate a government that doesn't assert specific preferences, but instead aims to protect preferences. Libertarianism supports privatization, authoritarianism supports publicization.

If OP is referring to classical liberalism or neoliberalism, then there really isn't much difference between those and libertarianism. They all advocate free trade, small government and private ownership.

If OP is referring to social liberalism/leftism, then he's wrong. Libertarianism isn't a social ideology.

>If OP is referring to social liberalism/leftism, then he's wrong. Libertarianism isn't a social ideology.

One of the main insights of Rothbard was that social and economic liberties can't be strictly separated. So yes, libertarianism is very much a social ideology. It's more socially liberal than modern leftism; Tucker would've felt in good company talking with Rothbard or Block about social issues, I believe, but would despise modern leftists.

Libertarianism is a general term that encompasses most of the non-authoritarian social organization schemes. It includes classical liberalism, liberalism (in the european sense of the word), neoliberalism and several kinds of anarchism.

Libertarianism is based in individual's rights and private property, meaning that libertarianism proposes a society organized in a laissez faire capitalism system that emerges spontaneously under a context of freedom.

Then I'm surprised you're that much of an idiot about it.

>hurr durr what if people don't go along with NAP? checkmate!!!1

Not checkmate, you moron; people WILL go along with the NAP once it's generally accepted as law, even if they personally disagree with it. That's simple applied criminology. The difficult part is getting the majority to follow the NAP, but still, you've done jackshit to prove this impossible.
