Legitimate retaliation must be a) delivered to the right person, not to random civilians and not to people who just happen to sympathize with the real perpetrator and b) must be proportionate to the crime. I'd also say it must be intended as a punishment, otherwise it's just a random act of violence.

Whether it was self defense, hard to say. Perhaps some killings of soldiers or law enforcement were.

The NAP is the main pillar of anarchocapitalism, along with the principle of self-ownership. All the economic policies of anarchocapitalism are merely derived from these two principles. Many people like to ignore this, as arguing from a deontological standpoint feels alien in a nihilistic time like ours, where no value is accepted as absolute.

Namely using the basis of private property to establish both a system of morality and a properly defined legal system that doesn't trample away folk's "rights."

We (well, by we I mean the AnCaps I know in real life) are more focused on making life as nice and easily "transcend-able" for the lowest common denominator if they put in the effort to show they deserve to have a good life (under the principle of abject poverty being the norm of human history, and prosperity being the "weird thing" that we should strive for) as physically possible.

tl;dr- We're a bunch of fucking tech-savvy peace-loving hippies that like commerce, and want everyone to be able to protect their pot plants behind their mansions with automatic rifles while earning an income off of their shares/stock in a robot working in some factory.

Some derive the principle of self-ownership by eliminating all its alternatives (collective ownership of the self and such), but that's another way to look at it. It definitely goes hand in hand with the NAP. Can't have one without the other.
