You know, some people don't revolve their philosophies around what commies say or believe?

And no, I don't know it. Probably because it's not true. With Marx being a child of Hegel, it's wouldn't make any sense. If Marxists were empirical, they'd reject their dialectical dogmas in a heartbeat.

> Christian Anarchist

Someone doesn't know the Gospels.

Romans 13

Every person should obey the government in power. No government would exist if it hadn’t been established by God. The governments which exist have been put in place by God. 2 Therefore, whoever resists the government opposes what God has established. Those who resist will bring punishment on themselves.

3 People who do what is right don’t have to be afraid of the government. But people who do what is wrong should be afraid of it. Would you like to live without being afraid of the government? Do what is right, and it will praise you. 4 The government is God’s servant working for your good.

But if you do what is wrong, you should be afraid. The government has the right to carry out the death sentence. It is God’s servant, an avenger to execute God’s anger on anyone who does what is wrong. 5 Therefore, it is necessary for you to obey, not only because you’re afraid of God’s anger but also because of your own conscience.

Yes, Marx hijacked the science of sociology from Comte and developed his own theory of sociology in accordance with his own prejudices. Comte's tradition became functionalism. Marx's tradition became conflict theory. Today, they form two of the four major paradigms of sociology.

>supporting positivism

Without an a priori basis, all a posteriori cogitation is unfounded. The claim that there are no true formal propositions is itself a formal proposition. Hence, positivism is self-defeating.

Positivism is the pseudo-scientific spawning pool in which old mysticism births new anointed prophets. It is the origin of the nonsense of objective value, which in turn demands prescriptive value, and thus the foundation for all command. Prescriptive value plus evolutionary theory equals eugenics. Prescriptive value plus economic analysis equals central economic management (socialism).

Positivism seeks to replicate the effects of science without understanding its fundament. It is a cargo cult.

>But Jesus called them to Him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.

>But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:

>And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.

>For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many.

>The English phrase “to rule” in verse 42 is the Greek archein, from which our word “anarchism” is derived. For Jesus to say we are not to become archists is the functional equivalent of a command to be “anarchists,” or as we would put it, “anarcho-capitalists.”

>When most people hear the word “anarchist” they think of a lawless bomb-throwing bearded assassin. According to Jesus, the opposite of an “archist” is a “servant,” not this caricature of an “anarchist.” Assassination and lawlessness are the antithesis of a Theonomic servant, and therefore the antithesis of an anarcho-capitalist as defined in our thesis.

>In fact, opposition to violence is at the heart of “anarcho-capitalism.” Socialism depends on the coercive and violent imposition of political policy upon the free market. The anarcho-capitalist opposes all infringements of man’s unalienable rights to life, liberty and property, and is unwilling to excuse any initiation of force, even by “the powers that be.”

>If Christians followed Jesus' command to be servants, and Paul's command (Romans 12) to eschew vengeance, the State would not come into being.

>In addition to the command to be a “servant” rather than an “archist,” Scripture firmly prohibits the essential functions of “the State.”

>Someone doesn't know the Gospels.

The book of Romans isn't a Gospel book…

I can see by searching those verses that you've conveniently selected a Bible version that translates the Greek word "exousiais" as "government". The version that you're using - "GOD'S WORD Translation" - seems to be the only version that makes this translation. It's an incorrect translation that you've hand-picked.

http://biblehub.com/romans/13-1.htm

"Exousiais" does not mean "government". It simply means "governing authorities" or simply "authorities".

http://biblehub.com/greek/exousiais_1849.htm

http://www.gotquestions.org/exousia-meaning.html

If you don't choose some obscure Bible version, you'll see that it reads this:

"Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience."

Where does it say that our authority should have a monopoly on the ability to govern? And how did you get "The government has the right to carry out the death sentence" from "But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer."?

I have to ask: if we are to obey the existing authority, why can't that authority be a private one? An anarchist society is governed, but not by a centralized authority. There really isn't a huge difference.

Romans 13 tells us to obey authority and the law. This doesn't contradict anarchism. Anarchism says that governing powers should compete because a forced government monopoly is illegitimate.

If you want to know what the Bible says about government, here's a passage that actually is from the Gospel:

Luke 4:5-8 - And the devil took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time, and said to him, “To you I will give all this authority and their glory, for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whom I will. If you, then, will worship me, it will all be yours.” And Jesus answered him, “It is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.’”

The devil owns the authority on Earth. Yes. It should be obvious why - because rulers are men, and men are fallen. Every single worldly ruler is a sinner. But Jesus does not sin, he's perfect, which is why he is given the title "King of kings and Lord of lords."

Well done.

Now explain away these quotes.

Colossians 3:22

Slaves, in all things obey those who are your masters on earth, not with external service, as those who merely please men, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. 23Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men,…

Ephesians 6:5

5Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ; 6not by way of eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.…

 No.16883

>>16880

Firstly, neither of those verses condone slavery. If I say "prisoners, don't lash out at the prison guards, or else they might harm you", am I condoning imprisonment? No.

Secondly, if you want to know what the Bible says about slavery, why don't you find a verse that actually addresses the ethics of the issue?

1 Timothy 1:9-11 "The law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted."

The Bible clearly labels enslavers as sinners, in the same category as murderers.

What did Israel do to slave owners during the Old Covenant?

Exodus 21:16 "Whoever steals a man and sells him, and anyone found in possession of him, shall be put to death."

Don't condone slavery? Just urges people who are enslaved to accept their place in society and obey their owners like god himself.

Enslavers are sinners.. But I guess purchasing their "product" and owning is cool with god as long as you are cool about it.

Ephesians 6:9

8knowing that whatever good thing each one does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether slave or free. 9And masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him.

We might be judged equally by god after death but he doesn't care about the social order in life at all.

And that same chapter of Exodus has this:

Exodus chapter 21-7

7 “If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as male servants do

Selling a child is okay.

After all it's your child, you didn't "steal" them or anything.

Maybe none of this "condones" slavery, but it doesn't condemn it either. How can the bible fail to condemn slavery and still be expected to a moral guide for our culture?
