Laptop: Xubuntu with XFCE(obviously)

Family Computer: GNU/Linux Mint with MATE

Server: CentOS

Favorite distro: #! and Arch. Considering Archbang on new desktop when it's finished, actually.

Manjaro. I just like xfce and is too GNU/Linux newbie to use Arch. Manjaro is fast, lightweight and goes with AUR. Every time in the past when I tried to switch on lunux from Windows I picked Debian based distros and every time I ended up switching back, because I simply didn't like them. But with manjaro it was love from the first glance.

I'm still playing with different distros in vms to find the perfect one to dual boot with muh vidya, especially Civ III Even though I'm a noob, the one I've found most straightforward and easy to use so far has been Bunsen Labs (successor to #!). I tried mint cinnamon, jewbuntu, elementary, fedora, manjaro with enlightenment, and openSUSE leap with KDE plasma 5, but this is the one that really seems to click with me. I love how simple Openbox is to navigate, and the tint2 panel is really simple as well. The fact that it also comes with conky is great for a quick system monitor and cheat sheet while I'm still learning the shortcuts.

Just recently migrated to Trisquel. It's a bit dated, but GTK integration with Plasma and everything I normally use works as expected. Starting to get comfy with GNU IceCat, although there are some minor issues.

Only main problem I have is that I'm unable to use my AMD card for 4K and I'm limited to 1080p with my onboard Intel GPU. May consider switching to nVidia kepler in the future.

I'm running CrunchBangPlusPlus, which is a project to revive CrunchBang GNU/Linux. It's fucking awesome!

I made a board for the images, videos and discussion of GNU/Linux's Tux.

 No.33[Reply]

hey all, just a stupid question I can't answer myself. I'm not a GNU/Linux pro, more like a not-so-new noob.

I made a SD card image of a GNU/Linux system and want to write this image back to SD cards. For this I used the "drives" tool in GNU/Linux, which offers the options to make and write these images (I dunno the exact name right now, but it comes with ubuntu and kali GNU/Linux), it works like a charm (had troubles with dd before)

now, if I use more than 1 SD card reader, I can't write to all of them, just one. The SD card readers are found by GNU/Linux, also the SD cards of course, but I can only write to one, even if I try to write to another, it won't select/use the next drive.

BUT if I use the card reader of my notebook instead, I can write to the inserted card AND to the USB reader at the same time. Could it be that GNU/Linux somehow has problems if more than 1 USB card reader of the same brand is connected? Or what's the solution for this problem?

I hope you understand what I try to explain here haha

Using Debian? Calling it G-N-U/Li-n-ux?

Fuck off.

It's Deb-ian/Li-n-ux.

Do you get how this works now?

It's everything else but the kernel, and if the kernel is Li-n-ux, then it's

<distro name>/Li-n-ux.

However, for cases such as Slackware, it isn't even G-N-U/Li-n-ux (unless you chose to install it with the G-N-U/Li-n-ux kernel).

You use their whole OS, with a different kernel (if you want).

For instance, I'm installing Slackware/Huge.

IT ISN'T G-N-U/Li-n-ux IF IT ISN'T G-N-U/Li-n-ux

EDIT: Had to delete and repost because BO is a fucking faggot who thinks every Li-n-ux distro is called G-N-U/Li-n-ux. As if Li-n-ux were an operating system, as well.

Eat a dick BO you fucking idiot.

 No.25

There's a new owner here now so this probably won't be deleted.

praise based hubacub

Actually, all the operating systems you listed are using the GNU corelibs, shells and utilties. If anything it's Debian/GNU/GNU/Linux

Oops, accidentally double GNU'd there.

Elementary OS devs say you're "cheating the system" by not paying for free (not paid-for) software…

 No.9

Sounds reasonable to me. If you actually use it you ought to contribute back somehow.

But paying to just download and try it? fuck that. I think their project is uninteresting and have no problem with it failing.

 No.12

gratis = free beer
libre = freedom

Fuck the devs, the license is GPL so if they want to make money off of an OS they should develop their own from scratch instead of copying and pasting bits and pieces from others and expecting us to throw money at them.

Honestly, I have contributed and helped people out on forums and IRC all free of charge and free in freedom and I don't feel like spouting out Open Letter to Hobbyists when I make a small application bug fix on github
