Sounds reasonable to me. If you actually use it you ought to contribute back somehow.

But paying to just download and try it? fuck that. I think their project is uninteresting and have no problem with it failing.

Fuck the devs, the license is GPL so if they want to make money off of an OS they should develop their own from scratch instead of copying and pasting bits and pieces from others and expecting us to throw money at them.

Honestly, I have contributed and helped people out on forums and IRC all free of charge and free in freedom and I don't feel like spouting out Open Letter to Hobbyists when I make a small application bug fix on github
