Guidelines:
Please note these are not rules, and the rules override the guidelines. This is being posted to help clarify board staff behavior that might otherwise puzzle the user base.
1. Please spoiler any hardcore, obscene, and otherwise seriously Not Safe For Work (NSFW) images. While /lit/ is set as a NSFW board, this setting is intended to facilitate more open and adult discussions of literature. We do not care about said images being posted so long as they are spoilered.
2. Advertisement and shilling is actively discouraged.
3. We are more tolerant of links to other 8chan boards. Keeping it literature related will help you here, or at the very least by making it something really interesting. We pretty much judge this on an ad hoc basis, but blatant shilling is not warranted.
4. Just to be clear advertisement and shilling are NOT:
4a. Requesting feedback or a critique of your writing, and posting such in a thread. This is OK.
4b. Posting a link for such to a noncommercial, nonprofessional off-board site. Examples that can be linked to include: google docs, pastebin, wattpad, inkitt, scribophile, and various fan-fiction sites. This is OK.
5. Outside of humorous intent there are no legitimate reasons to be using link forwarders, or the like. Humorous (ZOMG fan-fiction!) or not, please refrain from using them.
FAQ:
1. Fan-fiction?
We are cool with it. There is no telling what response you might get from any given user though. Board staff are usually willing, as time allows, to give feedback to the first three paragraphs or pages. We do not need elitism. We need variety.

3. What about file uploads?
We discourage uploading to the main board. While we have no issues with content sharing, we are wary of content hosting. You may always upload elsewhere and link to it back here.
Please consider using /library/ – which will accept some non-PDF formats. Any of the other myriad of PDF boards here on 8chan are good too, or the other usual file hosting services around and about.
4. So you want to be a writer?
