A thread for anyone needing some prodding on choosing what to peruse from their backlog.

Or just idle curiosity to see what other anons would do with such oddball lists.

 No.6838

My shortlist, made in preparation for the start of winter:

Live Free or Die, John Ringo

Against the Day, Thomas Pynchon

The Gunslinger, Steven King

The Hydrogen Sonata, Iain M Banks

Fifty Shades of Grey, E. L. James

Live from Golgotha, Gore Vidal

Which?

i have only read the gunslinger out of those.

i'd probably go for banks, since i sort of liked "the wasp factory".

I've got The Wasp Factory, is it decent?

 No.6872

Hi /lit/. Pleb here. I'm reading Dune right now. Here's what on the dock for me.

>in order

American Psycho- Brett Easton Ellis

Silver Screen Fiend- Patton Oswalt

Infinite Jest- DFW

>in no particular order

Catch 22

The Grapes of Wrath

So You've Been Publicly Shamed

The Glass Teat

Cat's Cradle

Portnoy's Complaint

Breakfast of Champions

If you have suggestions for how to order or add to the second part or if you have a pressing reason why I should reorder or add to the first part, I'd love to hear.

 No.6874

i liked it. not blown away by it, but not bad, especially for a first novel.

it's a short read anyway, so you can really judge by yourself without "wasting" too much time.

>>6872

among those i would probably go for So You've Been Publicly Shamed since i'm sort of a jon ronson fan…

You're going to be coming off of IJ before hitting the second list. If it were me I'd want to switch up with something lower and slower.

Roll with Vonnegut or Catch 22.

Thank you. I agree. I've been building up to IJ since I know it's such a beast and I only started reading again relatively recently. Figured a light read by Patton Oswalt would be a good cushion for pre-IJ and wasn't sure about post-IJ. I'll keep these in mind.
