Homestuck is well known, and we are a part of image-board culture. It's a kind of phenomenon that potential writers should look into. As two examples, John Ringo wrote what is essentially fan-fictional historical background novels to the Sluggy Freelance webcomic. L. Neil Smith has done at least two webcomic collaborations as well.
The better graphics novels like Transmetropolitan and Watchmen are worth discussing too.
