Researchers have for the first time documented a case of an individual contracting HIV, a multi-drug resistant strain, while PrEP. The scientists concluded that it is indeed possible for individuals who are adherent to PrEP to contract HIV when they are exposed to a virus that is resistant to both drugs included in Truvada.
The 43-year-old man had been on Truvada for 2 years before receiving his diagnoses. When asked about how this is affecting his and his family life he told reporters, "I'm scared. I need time to accept this. *sniffle* I might have to start using condoms now."
