Better than anime noses, but I can see your point. But unlike a lot of tumblr artist I will not pretend I'm any good at art. I'm a hack fraud who can fame my way to making pictures look acceptable.

It's the "western" cartoon nose that usually looks sunburnt as hell with a really hard red blush at the tip.

It's most common on tumblr due to just the style and they slap it onto anime-ish art because they have some weird thing to include huge noses for some reason.

Japan is simple with their noses and just does a small line or dot to show the feature.

Makes their faces more clean and nicer.

tbh I'm still struggling with finding a comfortable way of drawing the face, and my noses are kinda in flux. Most of my artistic inspirations go for more realistic noses, but I am way to lazy to do those properly.

Also, mildly related pic because I feel like I should be contributing something to the thread besides words.

That's because in manga philosophy, faces are supposed to merely show facial expressions, e.g. for emotions. The nose doesn't contribute much to facial expressions in general (because the only muscles present there are those for nose-wrinkling), so they don't waste much time making it pronounced. Plus Asian noses are usually flatter than Westerners' ones, so they aren't as dominant in Japanese features.
