before you start stylization because if you don't you won't have a true command over your style; you'll just be making stuff up as you go along without a solid foundation, know what I mean?
There is a problem with all this though, fundamentals are pretty boring, man; they take a long time to "sink in" for a lot of people, too. I highly recommend them if you want to take your art to a higher level, but if you don't care about that so much it might not be so bad to just keep doing what you're doing if you're having fun.
