So, /loz/, how are you doing? Is everyone doing good on here? I'd just like to ask how MM3D was. I am planning to buy it once I have enough money, but I'd like to here how it was. I browsed the Glitches in MM thread for a while, and they seem pretty fun. I'd like to get just a general rating of the game, though. You know, graphics, gameplay, story, etc etc. So anons, what did you think?

I played the N64 version back in December. Look, it's Majora's Mask again but with a million little changes! Some are good, some are bad, but it's essentially the same game. Hand cramps and a shitty circle pad reduce the catharsis of movement, and the lighting can really fuck up at certain times of day, but a lot of things are really convenient now such as the Song of Double Time, aiming shots, and the inventory.

There are a lot, a lot, a lot of tiny changes in this game, and it would take hours to list them all and hours more to debate them all.

If I rated MM3D based on my raw feelings playing it, it'd be a 7 out of 10, meaning it's at worst very good. Didn't regret purchasing, but I don't know whether I'll go back to the 64 or play the 3DS version the next time I want to visit Termina. Maybe I'm full of shit.

Sounds like a good review. Thanks for your opinion. Its much appreciated. 7/10 is a C though. Is it not that decent?

I don't know rating systems. My perception of the garming rating system isn't related to my school expectations in which anything less than a B is unacceptable.

I was going to write down my grading scale, but anything between 6 and 10 is really fuzzy. I know that certain games are good, but exactly how good is hard to quantify.

If I was going by school standards, I'd give it a solid B because I know that this is 90% copy and because some of the changes are dumb, but it is at worst good. Teachers notes: think hard about what you're changing. Pay attention to lighting. Be as friendly to old players as you are to new.

And if you haven't played the N64 version, then you really shouldn't be listening to my opinion, because I don't know what I'd think about this game if I had never played Majora's Mask before. I'd like to meet someone from that boat.

Short answer: 7/10 means it is that decent. 7/10 means "good".

Ok. Thanks. So this sounds like a decent game. Thanks for reviewing it. I would like a little more info from you other anons but I think that I will buy this game. Also:

>Can't tell if joking
I'd tell you to Google it, but I tried a couple of times with the context given in this thread and didn't actually get an explanation. You win this round.

Trips are when the last three digits in the post number are the same. Dubs = doubles, trip = triple, quad, quint, etc. I don't know if it counts on a slow board, but I'll give myself a masturbatory pat on the back because it's a somewhat long, thought- out post.

While you're here, what are your thoughts on Majora's Mask 3D? Did you play the original? How do they compare? Let's stay on topic.

nice dubs. I think Majora's mask is a pretty dope game. I like the dark feel to it. I wish more Zelda games had that. The 3D version is a definite improvement, but had some minor, stupid changes to the bosses.

What the heck, it'll count on /loz/

Anything particularly drastic?

Grey- phics, lighting, the absolute slaughter of the four bosses, text- changes to hint the player harder, the growth of the bomber's notebook, the switching of the spin upgrade and the magic upgrade, the addition of a seventh bottle seemingly only for the sake of making the circus- leader's mask useful, an infinitely inferior version of Gyorg's room on the moon, the movement of the stone mask guy, and the fact that the Garro's mask looks like a leader instead of a mook. Those are the biggest changes I can think of.

>the absolute slaughter of the four bosses
Is it to do with the additional eyes?

Overall: oh dear.

It does. Every dungeon boss has a giant eye, and that eye is the ONLY way to damage them. Every other hit only adds up to stun the enemy. It's a bad Zelda trope, and every boss surrenders to this. So we went from dynamic and somewhat interesting boss fights to "stun it and hit its weak point" again.

>Odolwa

>Originally a dynamic boss fight in which you had to navigate around his massive sword and shield
>Now if he holds up his shield he CANNOT be hit
>Deku Link can make him collapse with a single deku nut
>Hit the weakpoint for massive damage while he bows to your superior strategy

>Goht

>You have to knock him down as goro, then stop rolling to slice up his eye
>This ruins the fast pace of the fight

>Gyorg

>Regular hits make him vulnerable, hit his eye to deal ACTUAL damage
>This fight is actually not worse because of the second phase in which he lowers your only platform, and you must cut bombs for him to eat without being eaten yourself.

>Twinmold

>Aim arrows at spots on blue's body, would be cool if he didn't puke out a giant eye that you have to hit afterward
>Acquire giant's mask
>Your clothes grow with you
>Your sword doesn't grow with you
>why.jpg
>Link lugs around like a child pretending to be a wrestler, and it's funny for the first few minutes
>You awkwardly try to punch the red one as it shoots fireballs and baby molds at you
>Punching has shit range
>When he's in an attack animation, he CANNOT be hit
>Press "A" to start a cutscene in which Link swings twinmold Bowser- style
>You must activate this cutscene four times

I don't like it. It's not terrible, but it's really subpar, especially compared to what was there before.

holy shit, I'm just wondering what kind of thought process led them to think any of that was a good idea

>Deku Link can make him collapse with a single deku nut

well shit, never buying the game then, I never use those things because I'm shit at it, if I ever play this game it's almost guaranteed it'd be the first time I'd died against Odolwa

You can sucker- punch him with an arrow once he jumps or something; I'm sure there are other ways to beat him, but the fact of the matter is you have to wait for him to make himself vulnerable.

What the shit, Nintendo? It was a remake of a game, why'd they have to fuck up the bosses? Are the fights easier or harder now?

 No.323

>>291
>bosses are good, you can hurt them anywhere
>Nintendo remakes it and adds eyes everywhere and you can't hurt them anywhere el se
>someone at Nintendo, most likely Miyamoto, thought this was a good idea
Welp, I'm now scared shit!ess about Zelda U's future, I can't believe how utterly retarded they're acting lately

 No.324

>>320
Odolwa's harder, Goht is easier, Gyorg is easier, Twinmold is harder. They're all more annoying and less fun.

 No.325

>>324
Wait, Odolwa's easier if you use the deku nut method and harder if you don't.

 No.326

>>324
That really sucks that they had to fuck up the bosses like that. Do the changes to the bosses make the game less worth playing, or is the game still good and worth buying and playing?

 No.327

>>326
It's still good enough to buy. Dem greyphics. Worst case scenario it becomes a game of spot the differences.

 No.330

Alright. I think I will buy it then. I'm really excited to get it now.

Just remember: the Song of Time doesn't save the game anymore. Don't lose your data from that mistake like I did.

 No.390

A friend of mine is willing to sell it to me brand new for $20. Is there anything else in the remake that would warrant buying it or should I just emulate it?
